Tampa’s mayor flummoxes Fox goons

President Obama is a fairly tall person and a friendly, personable guy according to people who’ve met him. Sometimes, when greeting shorter folks, he’ll briefly stoop down to their level while shaking hands, possibly to avoid the appearance of sneering haughtily down his nose at them.

Fox News has devoted copious amounts of coverage to this important issue, portraying the president as a serial bower-and-scraper who shuffles along deferentially on his knees worldwide to America’s everlasting shame. Yesterday, they booked Mayor Pam Iorio of Tampa on Fox & Friends so they could advance that narrative. It didn’t go well for them:

Mayor Pam refused to play their game. When Kilmeade and Doocy repeatedly tried to make a big deal of Obama’s greeting, the mayor used their openings to praise the president’s graciousness, talk about the importance of the high-speed rail project he came to town to announce and express incredulity at the level of “analysis” devoted to Obama’s so-called bow.

The backstage producers must have been frantically screeching the next talking point into Kilmeade and Doocy’s earpieces because both then tried to characterize Obama’s visit disparagingly as a campaign stop. Mayor Pam turned that table on them as well, noting that she was impressed by Obama’s ability to answer random questions from the town hall meeting audience in great detail.

In short, Mayor Pam made Kilmeade and Doocy look like the empty-headed, smirking douchebags they are. Well done, Mayor Pam!

Palin Sure can Pick ‘em - Tea Party Convention Shaping up to be Epic Fail

Given the choice* of speaking at CPAC 2010 (for no remuneration) or at the National Tea Party Convention (for beaucoup bucks - yay!) guess which one the Frosty Grifter picked?  Why, you betcha!  That hefty speaking fee, reportedly $100k, convinced our Sarah that the Tea Party Convention was a much more worthwhile organization with which to align herself.  Well, luckily she apparently got half that fee up front cause the rest of it’s looking a little shaky these days.

Even FauxNews is admitting the Convention is in trouble.

The first National Tea Party Convention is slated for the end of this week, but several big names and events have cancelled after questions rose about the high fees to attend and the treasure chest where the money will end up.

Over the past few weeks, several sponsors, speakers and volunteers have backed out of the convention, scheduled Feb. 4-6 at Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tenn., after learning that the convention organizer, Tea Party Nation, is a for-profit company. Some activists and outsiders alike are questioning the motives of Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips.

Not our Sarah though!

Sweet tap-dancing Jeebus

El Flushbowl makes Elaine from Seinfeld look like Isadora Duncan:

Notice how the judge at Limbaugh’s right firmly puts her hand on his shoulder and pushes him down into his seat. I guess she was trying to protect innocent bystanders from being thwacked by his jiggling moobs. I think I just threw up in my mouth. A lot.

Trig Palin Reprises Role As Helpless Stage Prop in Nutcase Mom’s Cynical Power-Play

Human shields—they’re not just for terrorists anymore.

Nothing says “Mother of the Year” like trotting out your special-needs child every time you require a soft, cooing bludgeon with which to baby-whip your political enemies. And, predictably, Alaska’s own “Agnes of Zod” shamelessly plays the Trig Card in her latest Facebook emission attacking President Obama’s proposed Federal budget for 2011.

Included in the debate process will be opportunities for our president to deliberate internally the wisdom of this debt explosion, along with other economic, military and social issues facing our country. Our president will discuss these important issues with Democrat leaders and those within his inner circle. I would ask the president to show decency in this process by eliminating one member of that inner circle, Mr. Rahm Emanuel, and not allow Rahm’s continued indecent tactics to cloud efforts. Yes, Rahm is known for his caustic, crude references about those with whom he disagrees, but his recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm’s recent sick and offensive tactic.

The Obama Administration’s Chief of Staff scolded participants, calling them, “F—-ing retarded,” according to several participants, as reported in the Wall Street Journal.

Just as we’d be appalled if any public figure of Rahm’s stature ever used the “N-word” or other such inappropriate language, Rahm’s slur on all God’s children with cognitive and developmental disabilities – and the people who love them – is unacceptable, and it’s heartbreaking.

Not surprisingly, while Palin bridled at the term “retarded,” she was totally cool with the “fucking” part.

Quote of the Day

From Roy Edroso:

I doubt that the rightbloggers who are pretending to believe that the coverage of [James] O’Keefe’s legal troubles is the real crime here are very concerned with his hide. Hell, if he went to prison, that’d be holy martyrdom, no doubt attributable to the long reach of Eric Holder, and a great way to rally the troops.

His Voice column about O’Keefe’s arrest can be found here.

Mission Accomplished!

Obama’s diabolical plot to turn warmongering wing-nuts into Pentagon-levitating hippies is proceeding apace. Now even House Minority Leader John “Boner” Boehner is calling for slashing the Pentagon’s budget:

I don’t think any agency of the federal government should be exempt from rooting out wasteful spending or unnecessary spending. And I, frankly, I would agree with it at the Pentagon.

Right on, Comrade Boner.
