1000+ (emphasis on the plus)

I know it’s NYC, but this last-minute protest/march following the Prop 8 ruling in California is pretty awe-inspiring. Make sure you watch the video.

UPDATE: According to Allan in comments, it wasn’t exactly last-minute.  Local news portrayed it that way.  My bad. Still damn impressive, though.

Couldn’t make it on such short notice, but I’ve got my signage all worked out for the next one:

MISERY LOVES COMPANY
straights 4 gay marriage

Because God forbid I express an earnest sentiment for once in my damn life.

Thanks for the link, Kevin.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret: we’ve been organizing “Day of Decision” rallies for months.  In most cities in CA and around the US, local advocacy groups had already cleared their plans with local authorities and established Facebook groups, etc. to be prepared for the ruling.

We queens are experts at party planning, don’t ya know… we even know when and how to make them look all spontaneous and dashed-together at the last moment.

Oh, and I, um, dated Michael Feingold way back in the 70s, when he was in Chicago directing a play at the Goodman and I was a skinny and fetching book clerk at Marshall Fields who caught his eye.  A very nice man.  I also had the pleasure of accompanying him to the Goodman premiere of David Mamet’s worst play ever, Lone Canoe, a musical (!) about 19th century explorers and Native Americans, and had a great time at the after-party as cast members regaled us with tales of some of the even worse material that didn’t survive the final edits.

Whoops.  That’s the last time I believe the local TV news. They made it sound like it sprung out of nowhere.

Yeah, those local TV newsers are the most gullible of all.  They would never search the web to read the planning that went into an event as part of a nationwide campaign.

God, I can’t crawl up their ass if I wasn’t aware of it either. So ashamed…

Kevin, it is your capacity for shame which separates you from the media whores.  Never lose it, OK buddy?

Never lose it, OK buddy?

It’s about all I have left from my Catholic upbringing, so I’ll hold onto it for life in case I’m wrong.
