A coating of Schneider

I quit going to big concerts a long time ago. I’m told you can’t openly do bong hits anymore, so what’s the point? But last week I went to a baseball game with my 11-year-old, and it featured a post-game show by the B-52s, one of my favorite bands back in the day.

Young Miss Cracker loved the band, and later in the week, we were looking up some YouTubes of the B-52s when I ran across this from the Daily Show. It’s more than a year old, but I missed it the first time:

God bless Fred! Morbid though this may seem, I’ve always thought that if there had to be a memorial service for me, my request would be that whoever attends would exit to the B-52s’ “Roam.” (It’s not that I think I won’t die—I’ve just figured we’d go with the “donate the usable bits, toss the rest on the barbie, scatter wherever” approach.)

Sorry, I must insert this completely OT comment. I have got that tune from the “worst video ever” Kevin posted a couple of days ago stuck in my head. I may have to lobotomize myself if I can’t get rid of it soon.

Oh Glix, I feel your pain. When Kevin originally posted it (you mean the “Hide Away, Man Is Coming” abomination, don’t you?), the same thing happened to me. I had to use my iPod to drive it out.

Its true. No bong hits. I present the following observations:

Cold Play - no bong hits

Wilco - slacker 20 year olds chain smoking cigarettes and no bong hits

Allman Bros.- no bong hits.

That’s right, the Allman Bros. and no bong hits. The Reagan revolution has succeeded. (Phish sold out too fast so I missed that opportunity for bong hit sightings).
