A Vote for Obama = Eternal Damnation (not telling anyone how to vote, though)

It was with a heavy heart that Bishop Thomas Paprocki, of Springfield, IL gathered the faithful to him for a little pre-election instruction on the eternal damnation ramifications of voting for President Obama.  In a news column in the Catholic Times and a companion video, Bishop Tom, appearing in his special-occasion red beanie, robes and bishop bling, counseled his flock that Democrats endorse “intrinsic evils,” therefore supporting Democrats puts a voter’s eternal salvation at risk.  Snap!

The good bishop has studied both party platforms carefully and found that the Democratic platform is riddled with “intrinsic evil” like opposing the criminalization of abortion and endorsing equality for homosexuals; conversely, Bishop Tom found no “intrinsic evil” in the Republican platform.

The bishop repeatedly makes the point that he is not telling anyone how to vote, because . . . tax exemption!  But, as a man of God, he does feel it incumbent upon him to warn the faithful that voting for a Democrat (notice he’s not naming names) will probably mean BURNING IN HELL FOREVER AND EVER AMEN!!!!1!

But, I paraphrase . . . here’s how Bishop Tom put it:

. . . a vote for a candidate who promotes actions or behaviors that are intrinsically evil and gravely sinful makes you morally complicit and places the eternal salvation of your own soul in serious jeopardy.

Not so fast with the “high fives”, Republicans you aren’t completely off the hook:

Certainly there are “pro-choice” Republicans who support abortion rights and “Log Cabin Republicans” who promote same-sex marriage, and they are equally as wrong as their Democratic counterparts. But these positions do not have the official support of their party.

For my part, I agree with Ghandi:

I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

Loathsome, yes.  But it becomes a little more palatable to watch if you imagine these words being spoken by Commander Data, and preceded by “Captain…”

Considering I give Ghandi about as much moral high ground as a motherfucking Catholic bishop, that face is just asking for a fist. Condescending fuckwhistle.

Gee.  I just assumed that starving the poors and olds and denying them health care were intrinsically evil and gravely sinful too.  Silly me.

Anyway the Catholic Church lost its standing to declare anything sinful centuries ago when it started enabling pedophiles.

Tax the fuckers, already.

As someone who comes from a deep multi-generational Roman Catholic background on all sides of the family and who grew up in a heavily Roman Catholic area, I am extremely angered to see this Bishop Thomas Paprocki try to insert himself into politics and threaten people with the fear of damnation like this!

This really pisses me off and crosses the line IMHO.  That the Vatican will spend its time attacking nuns who are trying to follow the teachings of Jesus and not go after these interjecting biased bishops is just another reason why I’m turning my back on my former Church.

As Oblomova said, tax these fuckers already!

Guys like this are the reason why I gave up the Catholic Church for Lent.

Tax the fuckers, already.

I just assumed that starving the poors and olds and denying them health care were intrinsically evil and gravely sinful too.

That’s just how that Jesus used to talk too. No wonder they had to get rid of him. A nice guy, but politically so naive.

My late mother, who voted for JFK back when lots of people assumed that a Catholic politician couldn’t be anything but a Trojan horse for the Vatican, despised this kind of thing precisely BECAUSE it plays into the hands of the still-virulent anti-Catholic prejudices out there.

I have tons of respect for the Nuns on the Bus—and for anyone who might be tempted to make the false equivalency about “Why is it okay for them to criticize the Ryan plan,” I think the answer is “Because the nuns are NOT speaking out as hierarchical authority figures in the church.” In other words—they have ACTUAL moral authority, because I don’t recall nuns in America conspiring to cover up pedophilia.

Thanks for another alert, Bette Noir, for when I visit my Bronx Irish-Catholic Obama-hating mom next month, of the ‘intrinsic evils’ I’ll need to avoid discussing in the run-up to the election of the Evil (Ni-clang) One. Still deliberating whether to introduce her to the ‘Nuns on the Bus’, or whether she’ll just retreat to her Cardinal Midszenty standpoint. Liberation theology is obviously a no-no.

In other words—they have ACTUAL moral authority, because I don’t recall nuns in America conspiring to cover up pedophilia.

The bishops need to listen to their nuns instead of trying to shut them up.  But the chances of that happening are the old snowball meet hell thing.

A vote for Obama is eternal damnation? This is the same as calling him a muslim, blasphemy.
According to Christ who told the priests who accused him of healing with an evil spirit:
you could’ve said anything about me, but when you call the spirit within me, the same one Obama got when Christ became his Saviour has committed blasphemy and that is the only sin that will never be forgiven to you in this world or the next.
JOHN said anyone that believes that Christ came in the flesh and believes Him to be the Saviour, such a man can only have the Truth in him.
I feel sad for anyone who commits blasphemy, knowing better. I can’t imagine eternity without hope or my Lord.
