Hillary Clinton put on a masterful performance yesterday at Senate hearings for confirmation as secretary of state. There was hardly anything she didn’t seem to know. Were you aware that Botswana has a model program for mining without despoiling land and for equitable distribution of wealth? No? Clinton did.

Were you aware that receding Arctic Ocean sea ice has made cruise ships shift their ports of call? No? Clinton did. Clinton’s exposition of arcana was a reminder of the wonkishness that she applies to public service. Her soon-to-be-former Senate colleagues were justifiably pleased by her performance.

It is actually her mastery of the arcane details of policy that is why I was on board with her as SOS. She’s not a transformative leader in and of herself, but she’s very good at this sort of stuff (that’s one reason why the whole landing under sniper fire in Bosnia was so bizarre).

I think the hordes have given up on her as their queen. Apparently, she stopped sending them coded messages through her choice of pantsuits when she eagerly joined the administration of eeevil.

I’m with dewberry. I think Hillary was the best choice for SoS and Obama the best choice for Pres. As far as ideology goes, they’re pretty much two peas in a pod, but Obama’s charisma will help achieve his goals better.

Thanks for the hat tip. I was kidding before about someone here being responsible of course but it’s possible that whoever wrote the headline is a Wonkette reader and is aware of what’s been going on. Also possible that the person had heard of the site but has no idea of the recent history but the timing is still pretty funny.
