From No Quarter commenter Mimi (must .. suppress ... laughter):
Obama supporters better get real. If they think NO COMEDIAN is going to poke fun at him or imitate him they need to think again. There was a cottage industry of Nixon impersonators and they were brutal. SNL has a tradition of poking fun at presidents. When the first began in ‘75 they did bits on Jimmy Carter and his wild and wooly brother Billy. They socked it to Reagan. Dana Carvey came into prominence becasue of his spot-on imitation of Bush Sr. And Clinton? Come on they did bits on his infidelity relentlessly and were downright cruel. If Hillary could take that Obama can take this little stuff that’s been lobbed at him so far. Can he take it like a man? Or as the rappers say: “Is he a punkass?”
They’ve done Al Gore and of course they have had a field day with Bush/Cheney. If Obama can’t and his supporters can’t take it then how are they going to deal with anything?
I loved the debate segment and the animation of Obama trying to duck being seen with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. I hope next week they do a bit about Obama keeping his white grandmother away from the public eye. Trust me, when Obama comedown starts happening, they’re going to LOVE these bits.
