Anyone watching the Congressional teabag farce?

What a shameless, bald-faced liar Bachmann is. This isn’t news, of course. But the depth of her mendacity is still breathtaking. It’s as if she’s up there railing against government-mandated anal probes. She’s not terribly bright, but I’m sure even she knows she’s lying about the “government takeover of health care.”

Also, I didn’t know Cliff from Cheers is a know-nothing blowhard in real life as well as on TV. And no wonder Angelina Jolie despises her father. Jesus, what a sorry spectacle.

UPDATE FROM KEVIN K.: Rather than do another post, let me add a few pics to Betty’s post from Bachmann’s teabag party I just found via rkref’s Twitter feed...

Caption from rkref: Omg, words fail me. This loony is calling for ambush of Pelosi’s office at 2pm

He also reported seeing this sign:

I’d rather live free then die with health care!

Brilliant.

UPDATE: These people are nuts. [via gimmeabreak in comments]

UPDATE AGAIN—The poster carried by the aforementioned nuts:

But remember, we’re supposed to respect these fellow citizens.

Visibility is not an asset for these primitive screwheads.

Remember, remember
The 5th of November…

I had to laugh out loud at Levin’s quoting Reagan’s famous loss of freedom speech…which Reagan delivered to scare the shit out of people about Medicare. If there’s a hell, these shameless corporate shills will surely rot in it.

Liveblog?  Teabaggers?  I’m in.

But since I’m trying to get some work done, just be sure to let me know when the lynchings start.

I don’t want to miss that part.

God,Cantor is an embarrassment to my state(and my district).  At least he kept it short.  I’m glad Pelosi chucked “bipartisanship” and told these teabagging knuckledraggers to fuck off.

Grrrr, missed the whole thing I guess.  Can’t get in on CSpan online for some reason…

It’s still going on. Now Joe “You LIE!” Wilson is talking. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him string more than a few words together at once, and now I can see why. He’s a drooling idiot. “Ladies and gemmums…”

Wow,Joe Wilson is a pathetic public speaker.  I’m not even talking about the content.

Betty, where are you watching?

C-SPAN3

Oh, and I just got this from a twitter feed.  Sick, demented people these ‘baggers.

gimmeabreak -

Wow. That is profoundly offensive. Shockingly stupid, really and truly. I’m glad you posted it. I never would have believed it.

The CSPAN feed mainly focuses on the speakers rather than the crowd. But from the few pans they’ve showed, the crowd looks pretty small.

Is every single attendee and speaker middle-aged or older and white? (Aside from journalists, of course.)

Is every single attendee and speaker middle-aged or older and white?

As an unfortunate soul who receives daily teabagger updates the answer is a simple one—yes.

gimme, and can you believe Cantor is at an event with signs like that?

Uber-tool from South Florida, Diaz-Balart, just embarrassed the state. Again. And wow, is Texas overrepresented or what? Shocker there.

Gimme, I just sent an email to the Simon Wiesthenthal Center expressing my outrage at this appropriation of Holocaust imagery for partisan political ends and the general “Nazification” of US political discourse.  I’d like to hear from Jewish leaders on this.

Bachmann is the perfect Madame DeFarge.

Excellent idea, Allan. That poster is hideously inappropriate.

And hey, they found an African American to deliver the benediction. Unfortunately, he’s a stark raving loony who is babbling about the Antichrist, abortion, death panels, etc. I think he’s the tin-foil hatter Beck dragged up awhile back.

Now they’re singing God Bless America prior to the storming of the office buildings. This is surreal.

Now they’re singing God Bless America prior to the storming of the office buildings. This is surreal.

I was just thinking how surreal this spectacle is. I hope the same indies and Repubs who were turned off by the extremism of Palin’s hordes during the GE feel the same disgust again.

Now they’re singing God Bless America prior to the storming of the office buildings.

That sounds almost….French

Andrea Mitchell asked Cantor if he’s comfortable with some of the signs that were so disturbing they wouldn’t show them on-air. He said he was fine with them.

Holy @$%&!  If this is not creepy, I don’t know what is!  Halloween is over people, stop this creepy shit.  Now the image is forever burnt into my retina.  What was seen cannot be un-seen.

I forgot to mention, did anyone watch the south park episode last night?  All these people behaves just like the bikers!

These people are their own worst enemies. I pity the fool who wanders past the Holocaust museum with that sign.

Those Reid/Pelosi costumes are cute, but I think the Beatles did it better on the original “Yesterday and Today” cover.

FT, I think this is a number that didn’t make the final cut from Cirque du Soleil’s Beatles show “Love.”

Tangerine Boehner: ““This bill is the greatest threat to freedom that I’ve seen in the 19 years I’ve been in Washington.”

Really? There was that unpleasantness in New York, PA and DC awhile back. Aren’t these the same yahoos who are always humping 9/11 and accusing everyone who didn’t jump on GWB’s war bandwagon of wanting to surrender to the “Islamofacists” who pose an existential threat? Yep.

This Salon correspondent is covering “The Siege.”

Just saw this article in the NYT titled “On the Hill, Protesters Chant ‘Kill the Bill’,” which made me think, wouldn’t it be funny if the protesters channeled Elmer Fudd and chanted “Kill the Bill” to the tune of “Kill the Wabbit”? :-)

Can I start calling Sunday talk show roundtables “Death Panels” now?

Apparently, there was another sign that had this on it:

““Obama takes his orders from the Rothchilds,”

I guess the teabaggers haven’t bothered to call Lady Lynn Forester de Laughingstock yet.

Bachmann was just on Hannity’s radio show. She’s calling for “reinforcements” to come to DC and wander through the halls of Congress tomorrow and during Saturday’s voting session.

I almost can’t wait for the next Republic Congress, now that I know we’re allowed to terrify representatives right in their offices. This is a terrific new form of government I’m sure the Founders wish they’d thought of.

A dozen morons arrested trying to storm Nancy Pelosi’s office.

Thanks, Allan and I hope they respond and make Cantor’s life miserable.

I got a nice response from the Wiesenthal Center.  Our exchange:

Me:

A photo is being circulated from today’s anti-government protests in Washington DC featuring a protest sign that uses a photo of corpses from Dachau. The continuing “Nazification” of US political discourse and the reprehensible appropriation of the Holocaust for partisan ends must be vigorously condemned. Thank you for looking into this.

Aaron Breitbart, senior researcher, Simon Wiesenthal Center responded:

We agree completely. If an issue is serious enough to be debated, it should be done so on its own merits. The cheapening of the Holocaust by invoking it on issues, as important as they may be in their own right, such [as] abortion, animal rights, health care legislation, etc., is wrong and demonstrates a weakness in the moral and ethical thinking of the violator.

I didn’t press for public comment, etc., but I also mentioned this on DKos, where some others indicated they also reached out to the Center, the ADL and some other organizations for comment.

I’ll defer to their judgment about whether and how to respond as organizations.

Cantor sits on the board of the Virginia Holocaust museum.  I’m working on a message to send them, attaching the photo & sending the link.

Jason:

Now THAT’s a surgical strike.  Well done.

Hey now, don’t mock the teabaggers! That’s the sort of thing that makes us look like terrible smug liberal out-of-touch elites, and it makes Chic Bob and Lambertkins cry big, blubbery tears over how fauxgressives are blowing a historic opportunity to reach out to the poor disgruntled salt-of-the-earths.

So—any shots of The Incomparable Archivist and the Only True Progressive in PB 2.0 out there making common cause today in DC? Is Lambert out there winning the hearts and minds for single-payer? Welcoming their hatred? No? Lambert? A hypocritical cowardly piece of puke? So it ain’t so!!!

Here’s a comment that jumped out at me:

Obammy is NOT trying to get health care for everyone, that doesn’t fit his agenda. The purpose of all this “health care” is to reduce the population of the US by free, maybe mandatory abortions and limiting treatment for seniors so they die faster. This leaves only healthy childless working people to generate taxes for him to steal for his friends while limiting costs for medical care, retirements and welfare. It’s simple once you see the big picture.

Brad, that comment makes me want to get knocked up and then have an abortion just to spite assholes like that.

Oh well, sorry teabaggers.  You had a good run this afternoon, and it looked for a time as if you might win the coveted lead-off spot in (non-Fox) news media, but actual breaking news just devoured your slice of the newshole.

Enjoy your time in oblivion, where the only people who will ever remember your demonstration are those who mocked you.  Thanks for the laughs.

Goddamnit Oblomova, and I just flew back from Chicago.

Jason - tipped and rec’d.

Thanks marindenver.

I happened to be on the edges of that crowd today.  They are a pretty scary lot, but what’s scarier is the establishment is egging them on.
