Brilliant
Michelle was captivating and her daughters were absolutely adorable. I’m going to be really sad if these three wonderful women aren’t residing in the White House in January.
MORE: Here’s Denise Williams’ take on the speech, including a video of it. This gives me another chance to say what a great moment that was, political or otherwise. As Keith Olbermann said, “Pitch perfect.”
UPDATE: As I wrote in the comments at Daily Kos, this was “beautiful.”

That’s a great pic and DAMN she was good. She’s a better speaker than the old man. What a poised and captivating women she is...this makes me glad to be alive at this time in our history. MSNBC has the vid up already or check it here: http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/08/25/michel le-o-introduces-herself-to-america/
Now look at this in comparison:

I haven’t found her full speech on video, yet. She’s a dozen kinds of classy, though, ain’t she?

Heh...listening to Fox news you’d think she’d failed miserably. I’ve been listening for half a day and my brain is bleeding out my face.
Karl Rove is giving his opinion on the Michelle Obama speech, hid fair and balanced opinion that it was a miserable failure where she didn’t talk enough about EVERYTHING in the 10 minutes she had. So much so that even Brit Hume called him on it and suggested he was reaching.
Basically i’ve worked out that anything these people say is generally the opposite of the reality. Why isn’t this lying sob in prison?!

Douglas, seriously? Even Michelle Bernard is gushing (quite literally) about it on MSNBC. Haven’t seen Buchanan’s take yet, though (a little behind playing DVR catch-up).

Thanks, KK. What a long, strange trip it’s been.
Hey! I’m covering the RNC from exciting Minneapolis next week. I’ll be twittering drunk. Hook me up with Petey.

Wonderful. Simply wonderful.
The United States on display.
Called mom and pop, thanked them. Proud, I was. Proud.

I still can’t get over that speech. A friend of mine IM’d me that she’d been tutored. Granted, but some things you can’t teach.

Michelle Obama hit it out of the park. She exemplified grace, elegance, and her emotive delivery was finely tuned. “Pitch perfect” is right.
As for the Clinton4McCain ladies, on the other hand. . .did you notice the older, white women behind them chanting “O-ba-ma”? It must have been a bit deflating for the C4Mers.

What channel was that on, mpandgs?
gimme, do you need a snarky ex-NYC bouncer for security/blogging? I think after tonight (the PUMAs must be deflated after the Teddy/Michelle one-two) I’ll be able to seamlessly move on to tearing apart the real wingnuts.

I just watched the video and, man, she set a high bar for Barack. I’ll leave you with this, from the 2004 DNC:
...for alongside our famous individualism, there’s another ingredient in the American saga, a belief that we’re all connected as one people. If there is a child on the south side of Chicago who can’t read, that matters to me, even if it’s not my child. If there is a senior citizen somewhere who can’t pay for their prescription drugs, and having to choose between medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer, even if it’s not my grandparent. If there’s an Arab American family being rounded up without benefit of an attorney or due process, that threatens my civil liberties.
It is that fundamental belief—It is that fundamental belief: I am my brother’s keeper. I am my sister’s keeper that makes this country work. It’s what allows us to pursue our individual dreams and yet still come together as one American family.
Word!

Yeah man,
Howard Wolfson actually came to play and smacked the naysayers down. Said she hit a home run. Megan Kelly stumbled a bit “Really? But what about Hillary!? Are Hillary supporters happy with that?!”
And then they had Karl Rove. Because she didn’t mention policy, talk about her childhood enough, talk about Barack enough, talk about everything in the world that she didn’t mention it was an abject failure. Blah blah blah. They’re reaching. Big time.
Like i said even Brit Hume found it a bit hard to swallow.

Kevin, I wish I could bring you…
My husband is tagging along and I can’t get him near the joint. I’ll be suffering the nutters while he’s basking in the florescent glow of the Mall of America and finding the local Drinking Liberally party (we’re hosts ourselves here in Jersey).
I’ll be hanging out with Wonkette folks for a bit and am trying to find other friendly faces. Pray for me and await snark.

I watched it last night live. The expectations were incredibly high, and yet, Michelle Obama exceeded them. I kept getting this funny feeling. Allergies? A cold? No. That’s what it’s like to feel proud to be an American. I’m not used to it anymore. But I could be again.
