Campbell Brown Takes It Out-of-Tucker’s-Bounds

Bravo. Finally, someone in the national media called bullshit on the Sarah Palin is “commander-in-chief of the Alaskan National Guard” talking point:

[TPM by way of The Bruce Blog]

Saturday I told my lovely wife Chris it would take the media until after the convention to get over their giddy and self-interested delight about the human interest story that is Sarah Palin and start with the inevitable exclamations of “you’ve gotta be fucking kidding us!” I never thought the (dis)grace period would have ended this early. To quote one of my favorite Replacements songs, color me impressed.

Did Fucker say that McCain and Palin had military experience?  And what did Fucker do with his bow tie?

I was pleasantly surprised to see this earlier this evening. It’s about time the MSM does their job so we don’t have to.

Suh-weeeet. I can’t stand that mealy-mouthed weasel Bounds. Nice to see Brown take the bastard down.

I missed most of the political coverage this weekend (too busy cooking—blackened grouper, ribeyes with secret Cracker sauce, jalapeno-mango salsa, cheesy grits casserole with carmelized onions, etc.). But if I were capable of feeling pity for McCain surrogates (which I’m not), I would have felt a twinge of sorrow for them, thrust as they were onto TV sets with little apparent preparation to defend the indefensible.

I’m not a James Carville fan, but I have to give him props for a performance last night on Larry King vs. some GOP congresswoman I’ve never heard of. The woman was trotting out a patently absurd line about how Palin’s executive experience as governor and mayor of a hamlet gives her more qualifications than Biden and Obama combined. Carville dismantled that ridiculous argument. He even came prepared with a photo of the town hall, which he said looked like a SE LA bakeshop. I’m glad the bastard is on our side.

Betty, that woman was Minnesota fundie/congresswoman Michelle Bachman. She is scary. Look her up in Wiki.

The blood is in the water. When Campbell Brown - a notorious soft-baller - calls you out, it’s a pretty good sign that the media isn’t going to go along with this one.

Bonnach, you are thinking of Tucker Carlson.

And Tucker Carlson stopped wearing bowties a while back. According to his Wiki entry, on April 11, 2006, he made an announcement (*cough* *cough* douchebag) that he would no longer wear bow-ties.

“I just decided I wanted to give my neck a break. A little change is good once in a while, and I feel better already.”

Anyone who Governs a state is in charge of the National Guard. That means that the state Governor is responsible for funding, equipping and the activation of their respective Guard. Once under Federal control then it’s a different story.  Your girl was wrong, she ate crow afterwards, and you didn’t see that on CNN.

Check your facts before you post outside of the pumasphere.  Next.

What is it with PUMAs and wingnuts (pardon the redundancy) and the random capitalization of nouns anyway? It should also be noted that the Alaska National Guard has fewer than 2,000 troops. My 10-year-old kid’s school principal commands a larger force.

Tucker Carlson, Tucker Bounds, what’s the difference?  They’re both mutha tuckas.

sblizz49: Have their been any natural disasters in Alaska during the last two years for which Sarah Palin has had to call up Alaska National Guard troops? You know, any earthquakes? Tsunamis? Floods? Or any other state emergency? Because that is the extent of her authority over the Alaska National Guard.

Here’s what the real commander of the Alaska National Guard has to say:

Maj. Gen. Craig Campbell, adjutant general of the Alaska National Guard, considers Palin “extremely responsive and smart” and says she is in charge when it comes to in-state services, such as emergencies and natural disasters where the National Guard is the first responder.

But, in an interview with The Associated Press on Sunday, he said he and Palin play no role in national defense activities, even when they involve the Alaska National Guard. The entire operation is under federal control, and the governor is not briefed on situations.
