Can we put Alan Grayson in Charge of Democratic Talking Points?

I’m sure most of you caught the freshman Florida Dem representative’s interpretation of the Republican health care proposal (or should we say, lack thereof) in front of Congress the other day.  (If you missed it, here’s the nutshell version.  “Don’t get sick.  If you do, die quickly.”)  Fauxraged Republicans immediately demanded an apology so he complied.  By apologizing to the approximately 44,000 Americans who died just last year because they didn’t have health insurance and thus were denied effective treatment.  Just the plain fact of that says enough.

But he had more to say on CNN’s situation room yesterday.

I particularly liked his description of Republicans as “foot dragging, knuckle dragging Neanderthals who think they can dictate policy to America by being stubborn.”  And the way he practically laughed in Alex Castellanos’ face for suggesting that tort reform and buying insurance across state lines are the answers to all our problems.  Anyone want to hear more Dems talking like this?  I do.

I read a few comments today accusing Grayson of being all talk and no action based on past comments.  I haven’t looked into it yet.  Anyone else know if this is true?

Not to discredit marin’s point, BTW.  We do need more Dems to be this fearless.

My bet is on the Democratic leadership denouncing him and hanging him out to dry—if only because he exposes them as the insurance industry shills that they are.

I shall stand up to defend Neanderthals, they certainly have done nothing, I repeat NOTHING to be smeared by Rep. Grayson in this manner. Neanderthals were a self-sufficient, highly intelligent species that thrived in a harsh and unforgiving world.

Republicans are just whiny ass titty babies and willfully ignorant guttersnipes who can do nothing except lie. Fuck ‘em.

Also.

Scrappy, unapologetic, up on the issue and wears a giant trout lure for a tie.

I like him!

KK, he has a long history as a lawyer fighting for seniors and medical issues. You can read his bio .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

ActBlue has raised over $100k for him in about 36 hours.

Well, so far, Pelosi’s game:

Please, please, please can we have more of this?

If we had 20-30 people like him in the house we would have a different government. I first saw him asking the Fed guys questions that they obviously didn’t want to answer. He seems to have the ‘How not to be a worthless, spineless Dem’ game down pat.

So I gave some $ to him, only the second contribution I have ever given a politician (Darcy Burner was the first).

Grayson got some money from me last night!

Ed Schultz put it succinctly, we need more “two-fisted progressives” in this fight.  God knows the Republicans wouldn’t know what to do if the Dems did go on the offense, other than whine and cry like usual.

Oops, look at that, Senator Graham appears to have already gotten the hint.

I, too, have donated to this fine (and rich) gentleman from Florida.

To Lindsey Graham I gave thanks.

And to Tom Price(R-GA), I shall shit in a paper sack and personally deliver it to him (he is a doctor, you know, and is interested in all things scatological).

I encourage all to do the same.

But he insisted that the demagoguery and wild emotions were prevalent to the fringes of both political parties. “There are people out there saying crazy things on our side of the aisle,” he said, “there were people saying crazy things about President Bush. That’s just the way it is. “

Graham basically got the short straw and fulfilled his obligation by making his remarks at a history conference.  Not much danger of his constituents hearing about it, but now the mouse circus will have a “responsible Republican leader” to point to.

I wish I had some money to throw to Grayson, but I did send him an email and call his office to say thanks, can we have some more, please.

Wheee! Bet they StFu next time.

Wheee! Bet they StFu next time.

That would require the ability to learn from past mistakes.

When a dog takes a shit on the floor and gets scolded, nobody worries about hurting the dog’s feelings.  Yet when the Republicans take a shit over anything in particular and someone has the balls to call them out, they get a Republican spokesman, some political reporter, and Wolf Fucking Blitzer crying about how he hurt the poor wittle Republicans feelings.          Wow, thank god for journalism!  I’m happy to see Rep. Grayson get attention for his comments, but I’d much rather see John Boehner dragged on the air and asked by Blitzer, et al., something along the lines of “Hey douchebag!  Where the fuck is your plan?” or even “Do you even have the intellectual capacity to recognize the fact that growing health care costs are a huge problem, or will you continue to sat around with a thumb up your ass, drooling, and uttering something else retarded?”

Of course, this would take a press corps that actually cares about holding our government reasonable for its actions.  Instead, our press corps is more concerned with scolding a representative for firey rhetoric.  Where the fuck has their system of values fled to?
