On the bright side, this finally gives the lie to the Wrongthink Brigade’s refrain (after every apeshit pileup on some dork) that even if you didn’t mean it that way it’s still your fault we’re offended because you didn’t use sarc tags. Here’s Shields having a frigging fire sale on nonverbal cues and it’s over everyone’s head.

So if, say, that happened to you a lot, you’d theoretically feel justified by this.

(I still say the giveaway that I wasn’t serious about wanting to punch some chick in the boob was how the whole set-up was about taking issue with charges of misogyny, guy on Balloon Juice who threatened to castrate me.)

I must say that I’m not surprised that the Eschaton commenters picked it up rather quickly compared to the TP folks.

This is why I’ve pretty much given up on liberals ever actually seizing control of the political discourse and holding on to it. When it comes down to it, 90% of people of all political persuasions are lazy sheep unwilling to do the basic homework required to have an informed opinion.
