Don’t call him stupid!

NRO Cornerite David Satter is dismayed to discover Obama is in denial about Russia’s E-Ville Empire-ness:

President Obama apparently knew that the FBI was about to arrest the members of the spy ring but did not raise the subject with Medvedev. This was a serious mistake. It reflects an unwillingness to face the truth about Russian actions and allows the Russians to perpetuate the notion that despite human-rights abuses, cooperation with Iran, and anti-American propaganda, there is harmony in its relationship with the U.S. The truth, however, is quite different as the now exposed spy ring shows. It is time to face that reality. The alternative is to face it later when its consequences will be much more difficult to control.

Uh, Mr. Satter? If Obama had mentioned the impending arrest, might Mr. Medvedev have discreetly excused himself from the meeting to make a quick phone call to inform Boris and Natasha to roll up operations and destroy incriminating documents?

Christ, what a moron.

I suspect Medvedev was well-aware that the jig was up for his deep-cover spy ring, and spent a terror-filled hour with the President at Hellburger, trying not to shit himself as an eerily cordial Obama peppered their conversation with curiously off-the-wall observations, such as:

“I apologize for all the reporters, Dmitry. Sometimes, I wish I could just assume the identity of a regular American citizen and go undercover for a few days.”

“Oh, look. The ketchup is right there behind the mustard. It must have been hiding there all along, in plain sight.”

“Do you like movies, Dmitry? I like movies a lot. Did you know that Invasion of the Body Snatchers was really an extended metaphor for the infiltration of small-town America by Soviet spies and fifth-columnists? Weird, huh?”

“Wow, look at the time! I guess we’d better pay the tab and get you back to the airport. I’m sure you must have miles to go before you sleep, and miles to go before you sleep.”

Why should a few spies affect our relationship with Russia?  We’ve got Joe Lieberman yet still maintain a relationship with Israel.

Glix, that’s different, because, because, shut up, anti-Semite!

Dear Lord, I hope this spreads. A few fReichtards screeching that the president is a commie rat fink traitor who hates America and freedom because he didn’t tell Medvedev we were about to round up some of his spies this Independence Day weekend would be better than 100 parades.

Of course Satter would be screaming about Obama blwoing an FBI sting operation if he had said anything.

If the Russians want to get their Evil Empire street cred back, they’re going to have to do way way better than this.
