Elinor Burkett, RISE! (If You Can Get Past Roger Ross Williams’ Mom)

            We Interrupt This Purple

Erstwhile respected journalist annoying gadfly and attention addict Elinor Burkett did herself no favors on Oscar night when she barreled into “Music By Prudence” director and co-producer Roger Ross Williams and bogarted the mike, but she did assure that a documentary acceptance speech garnered attention, so perhaps she performed a purple-encased act of altruism after all.

Below-the-fold bonus: music from Liyana, the Zimbabwean musicians profiled in the film, verified to be 100% marimbalicious.

Here are the subjects of the film, Liyana, led by the compelling voice of Prudence Mhabene.

Note: the director of the film lost no time in getting his thank-you speech out into the public, via the always-obliging Larry King, among others.

Burkett will forever be linked with Kanye West in early 21st century trivia.

I wasn’t at all aware of this film or the backstory between Burkett and Williams. I couldn’t figure out if she was acting like that because the microphone was covered with peanut butter, or she’d been sent by the rental shop to repossess his tuxedo.

I just realized she co-directed this Ann Coulter documentary.

A blingified Mrs. Polly original? I must have died and gone to heaven.

I think I’ll be stealing the phrase “attention addict”.

Really, this is the finest Bling-art I think I have ever seen.  The spotlight?  The purple starbursts?  Exquisite.

Thanks, kids! It’s a new scribble/bling amalgam owing to the fact that no work of art is now truly complete without a rhinestone border, I feel.

Look for Rothko Blingees to be the talk of the next auction season.

@Johnny Pez: I was trying to tip-toe around the wh-word. “Attention addict” presented itself as the PC-rite alternative insult.

That is some great music and the accompanying blingart piece only enhances the enjoyment!
