Enough with the handwringing

Greg Sargent speaks, you listen.

Great comment over there from Pangaea, too:

I think that Obama is just more patient than we are. McCain is busy shooting his load early, going after the jugular way in advance of the GE. If he’s shot everything and is still close/slightly behind, McCain is left with nothing but rehashing old points that he trotted out previously.

I think that Obama may even want the polls to be close now, as that keeps the fundraising incentive going. Furthermore, he can surge after the convention. We’ve had Dems in the past who have had huge leads and have played to survive, than to win.

Furthermore, I think that after the first debate, Obama will start to pull ahead cleanly.

Exactly.

Didn’t we see this movie during the primaries?  After Ohio and even more after Pennsylvania, “OMG Obama is tanking why can’t he close the deal.” Then he blew Hillary out in NC.  Than after WV the same hysteria, followed by another blowout win in OR.

Agree ... Obama should wait to bury McCorpse until October. Otherwise, the opposition might replace the old stiff with a live candidate.

My sentiments exactly. I read some Chicken Little article recently that noted Mike Dukakis once held a 17 point lead over Bush the Elder. That worked out really well for President Dukakis…

McCain is busy shooting his load early…

I really, really don’t need that visual.

Just think of poor Cindy. No wonder her hair is so tightly pulled back.

Dream on. Like Obama, this guy can rationalize anything. McCain doesn’t need to do squat for this race to remain close. Obama will continue to come up with “great” economic ideas like stimulus checks funded by taxes on windfall oil profits. Economists of all stripes agree that will only produce stable consumer spending numbers for a couple months. It’s the economy stupid and both of these men have equally lame ideas. Betting on an uptick in polls after the convention is delusional. The media will have a feeding frenzy if there is an ounce of nastiness between the Hillary and Obama camps, and, of course this will undermine Obama.

You look on those you know, making funny like all those other presidents.
He’s essentially a name, patriotic enough.
Know he’s not.
He’s, you know, got they’re dollar bills.
He doesn’t.
That’s the risky argument.

Sarah, I just checked out your blog.  You’ve got something there, but I’d go with haiku. Unfortunately, I don’t think spell check will help.

Happy blogging!

One thing that is rarely taken into account is the huge numbers of voters who have only just registered in the last few months.  Most of these newly registered voters aren’t part of the polling currently taking place. On top of that the vast majority are Democrats who are likely to vote for Obama. Put this together with the fact that the “likely voter” paradigm is going to completely change this election and I think the current poll numbers would even be better for Obama.

Plus McTired is an old man who probably wears diapers. In fact I would like to start an internet rumor: Psst, McCain wears diapers. Pass it on.
