Fat Jokes Aside, the Rollerball Comparison Has Merit

Hey guys, y’know what we should do? We should spend like the whole week falling all over ourselves to denounce a guy whole sole purpose is to get denounced by people like us.

if The Editors hadn’t closed up shop I wouldn’t have to do this

Is this about Dimbart? My video widget is broken. If so, I couldn’t agree more (with what I assume you’re really saying): ignore the troll, he’s already gone away.

Eh.  I’ve already written my Limbaugh-outrage post and managed to quash all the scatology that such a post probably merited. I get the game—if he’s driven off conventional airwaves and beaten into a semi-retirement on SiriusXM, then this was all part of the martyr-baiting plan. He’d be a free-speech an-hero we liberals McCarthy’d into creative obscurity—but nonetheless his name would resound in the halls of Wingnut Valhalla. Otherwise—he wins by being suitably obnoxious and not being pried off the body politic like the bloated tick he is.

Having said that—I’m done unless there’s another “device” found at his mansion, with “device” and “mansion” being flexible terms.  Then I might post for utterly newsworthyness. But I understand he takes weekends off of being horrible to sit, think, eat kittens, and clean the umbilicus that connects him to the Elder Gods. So I’ll probably just putter about thinking feminazi thoughts and drinking bleach.

Bain Capitol pays a lot for that distraction.

While I agree that Flush’s entire purpose in life is to attract denunciation from people like us (for cash), I say in this case we should accommodate him. It may be in his financial interest, but it’s not in the Republican party’s political interest to become known as anti-contraception lunatics.

Re Limbaugh, I’m glad he’s being called out for being a misogynist scumbag, if he’s forced off terrestrial radio, that’s a good thing.  But I don’t plan to spend a whole lot of time on him, I’m more interested in beating MitTorumGrich and saving my state from Bob McDonnell.

No, it’s killing them, which is why I don’t see the logic in turning a multipronged anti-woman legislative assualt into a referendum on some radio asshole. I guess the idea is to hang Limbaugh around the GOP’s neck but that just gives scumbags like Santorum a chance to distance themselves. Not to mention distracting attention from the congressmen and governors pushing these bills through.

Already the op-ed pages are using this as an excuse to pivot back to their civility-wanking comfort zone. So hey, wingnuts, go ahead with Operation Handmaid’s Tale, just watch your mouths.

I’d disagree both for my own reasons and for those Vixen alluded to, but you are just saying that rhetorically, right?  Otherwise I’m afraid you’re vastly overrating what it means to lose the ProFlowers account.

That’s one way of looking at it, GM. Maybe you’re right. But the way I see it, Limbaugh isn’t just any old talk radio asshole. He’s a party elder. He’s spent the night in the Lincoln Bedroom during two Bush administrations. He gets a hero’s welcome at CPAC and RNC events.

When Republicans have called him out for past racist and sexist remarks, he forced them to knuckle their foreheads and apologize for criticizing him. Including an RNC Chairman and numerous elected officials.

I can’t see him backing down now, and he will surely address those GOPers who have made mild clucking noises over his latest sexist outburst. I don’t think that will make people like Santorum look reasonable. It will alienate them from their Dittohead constituents, who see nothing wrong with Limbaugh said.

But more importantly, I don’t see it taking the focus off the overall issue of the GOP vs. contraception, which was already raging before Limbaugh opened his big yap and will continue, god willing, as it should. I think it just underscores what the “religious liberty” issue is really about, and my heart gladdened when Limbaugh doubled down by echoing Santorum’s sugar daddy when he offered to provide aspirin for college students to put between their knees.

I think your second paragraph’s the key one; I assume that’s where everybody’s going with the petitions for censure. Success rests on the Right taking the bait, and whereas a few years ago I would’ve thought them too savvy to fall for it, they do seem to be getting exponentially more nuts, so I guess the odds are better than even in our favor.

It’s stuff like this that worries me; Rush is giving these cretins a chance for undeserved redemption. Dude’s a co-sponsor of the goddamn Blunt Amendment, but this news cycle he’s a good guy alluva sudden.

Not to mention, all the outrage just buys into the notion that promiscuity is immoral. I’m pretty sure it’s awesome, though I’d need an infusion of “game” to test that hypothesis.

Well, Rush has emitted a shiteating apology of sorts.

Meanwhile, in the comments on every wingnut blog I’ve been able to slope around, dittoheads are doubling, trebling, quadrupling, and some cases quintupling down on his thesis. It’s astonishing how absolutely NONE of them seem to have actually read or seen what Ms. Fluke actually said, and how many of them think that you just take a contraceptive pill whenever you feel like a bit of how’s yer father.

His apology is about as infuriating as the original comments, because he’s continuing to mislead about who is paying for the coverage—he’s also apologizing for “word choices” as if he might’ve been better off if he just didn’t use the word “slut”.  Such a bag of shit he is.

Aaaand, Limbaugh’s also made a liar of me, because I had to post about him again. Rats.
