Five Myths About John McCain, the Make-Believe Maverick

If you know someone teetering toward McCain due to his “heroism” or “mavericky-ness,” this quick video of Tim Dickinson should give them a shove back in the right direction:

Pass it along. The companion cover story in Rolling Stone is even better. [hat tip bjkeefe]

SOMEWHAT RELATED: Isn’t the prevailing notion that McCain’s great during town halls a bit of a myth, eagerly propagated by Our Stupid Media, as well? Sure the McCain of several years ago may have shined during them, but his town halls that I’ve seen during this election season aren’t all that.  He has looked stiff, awkward, humorless and unconcerned.  Am I missing something? I guess I’ll find out tonight.

Speaking, or in this case, reading about the McCain myths is proving to be an interesting endeavor.

The Forrestal debacle comes to mind, and who should appear?

Oh, and yeah, McCain may have been good in informal settings in 2000, but it’s clear that he’s lost not just one step, but a mile-long walk of strides now that he’s entered his dotage.

This is Obama territory and I have a feeling McCain is going to come across as an angry, bitter, arrogant man.

And will you please do something about your goddamned secret code-before-you-post-thingy? It’s a pain in the ass.

HB, sorry, I’d be cleaning up spam comments forever without it.  Sign up for an account and you won’t have to deal with it. I may be adding a never-ending open forum for members only in a few days, so you may want to do it anyway.

Ummm, uhhh, heh, yeah I guess I could ummm, do that too.

D’OH!

I just noticed this in the TOS. It seems we’re all gonna be banned ...

Well, it’s not like I’ve spelled it out anywhere that membership overrides the captcha.

Heh.  I completely forgot about the TOS.  The only bannable offense is referring to you-know-who as anything but “The Sneed”.

Sweet, I just registered and now I am somebody!

Damn, should have chosen Navin R. Johnson as a user name!

I would have chosen my registered name as Raven Falcon Palin or something like that but I had already foolishly registered as plain old marindenver before.  (Or actually Kevin did it for me since my computer kept kicking me off when I tried to post.)  So, how about that debate?  Did Obama kick ass or what?
