Florida GOP boss ousted by teabaggers

Jim Greer, Florida GOP Chair and ally of current FL governor and senate candidate Charlie Crist, resigned today:

On a conference call with reporters just now, Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer officially announced his resignation, effective on February 20. He took the opportunity to tear into his right-wing critics for wanting a smaller party and accused them of pulling apart the GOP itself in order to take him out.

Crist and allies like Greer have been under attack by teabagger darling and Crist senate seat rival Marco Rubio. So is Greer some sort of namby-pamby New England-style RINO? Nope—he’s the same Greer who caused a nationwide furor by going nutso at the prospect of the president addressing school children this past fall:

As the father of four children, I am absolutely appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama’s socialist ideology. The idea that school children across our nation will be forced to watch the President justify his plans for government-run health care, banks, and automobile companies, increasing taxes on those who create jobs, and racking up more debt than any other President, is not only infuriating, but goes against beliefs of the majority of Americans, while bypassing American parents through an invasive abuse of power.

Remember, Greer—GREER!—isn’t wingnutty enough for Rubio and crew. Jeebus save us…

Is Steele next?

Strange - No. He’s incoherent and insists on purity

“I don’t know. And that’s what I’m assessing and evaluating right now. Those candidates who are looking to run have to be anchored in these principles,” he said, referring to 5 conservative ideals he lays out in his new tome. “If they don’t [anchor themselves], then they’ll get to Washington, and they’ll start drinking that Potomac River water, and they’ll get drunk with power and throw the steps out the window.”

(Yeah and I’m pretty sure Mr. Steele’s water comes from the Lethe of D.C.)

Read Brooks “Tea Party Teens” in the NY Times today. Right on point. Although David is a Republican he’s usually a good at taking the temp of the party.

It’s because he went to FSU, isn’t it, Betty?

Wow…just shows how extremists will always self immolate and turn on each other.  Any slight deviation from one’s particular “purity” is reason to turn on their companions in a heartbeat…
