Gee-Oh-Pee-Mo

What the fuck is up with the GOP tough guys these days? Wasn’t the GOP the hard-as-nails Party of Dad, whereas the Dems were the sensitive ponytail wearers, always worried about feelings and emotion, etc.? That’s the stereotype the GOP has worked to perpetuate for my entire lifetime. And now they bust out with this shit:

GOP Rep. King: ‘Bored’ Napolitano needs to show ‘emotion’

In the wake of the attempted bombing of a plane bound for Detroit, Rep. Peter King (NY-R) criticized Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano for appearing “bored.”

“What I was critical of here was that first of all we went almost 48 hours before anyone from the administration came out and even spoke about what happened,” explained King Monday.

“Finally, Janet Napolitano comes out and the first thing she said was everything worked well. And she seemed almost like she was bored to be there. There was no intensity. There was no show of emotion,” he said.

King was not the only Republican to attack Napolitano’s tone. Former George W. Bush spokesperson Dana Perino told Fox News Monday that Napolitano “missed the mark” with her tone and needs to “turn up the urgency just a tad.

I guess Obama could have flown around the country in panicky circles like Bush famously did on 9/11, even though the undie-bomber was safely chained to a gurney in the burn unit by the time the story broke. I blame Glenn Beck, whose weepy broadcasts have apparently caused wingnuts to become addicted to tears and hysteria. Way to wreck the party brand, Emo Girly Man.

Because the GOP has been the Party For the Asshole Fat Kids Who Hung Out With The Jocks since the 90s, which means they’re big on bluster, low on spine.

they’re big on bluster

Fillibluster!

Is this the same Peter King who is the Irish Republican Army’s biggest American booster?
