Greek priest bashed on head with tire iron for not lookin’ ‘Merican
I know, I know, I shouldn’t have to explain to those miserable bags o’ offal Coulter and Malkin (”[P]eas in a jihad-inspired pod”? Really? Fuck, I want to snipe her ass for writing that.) why running around screeching “Islam sucks!” ain’t the greatest idea in the world right now, but I didn’t quite expect to have a glaring example of why restraint is called for come tumbling into the news so quickly:
Marine reservist Jasen Bruce was getting clothes out of the trunk of his car Monday evening when a bearded man in a robe approached him.
That man, a Greek Orthodox priest named Father Alexios Marakis, speaks little English and was lost, police said. He wanted directions.
What the priest got instead, police say, was a tire iron to the head. Then he was chased for three blocks and pinned to the ground — as the Marine kept a 911 operator on the phone, saying he had captured a terrorist.

Bruce grabbed a tire iron from the trunk, hit Marakis four times over the head and chased him about three blocks before pinning the priest, police said.
In a 911 call, Bruce made a derogatory comment about a man he said was a terrorist and was trying to rob him and had grabbed him in a sexual manner, police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said.
When officers arrived, police say, Bruce told them he heard the man say “Allahu Akbar” – Arabic for “God is great.”
“That’s what they say before they blow you up,” Bruce said, according to police.
Ya know, because them Greeks love yelling “Allahu Akbar” right before they go for the weiner. That’s why I stopped going to the restaurant down the street, even though I love their spanakopita.

Translation please. Not clear as to what’s disgusting. Does Terry Ann think spanakopita is some kind of Arabic swear word? Or could it be the pic of Ed Morrissey I linked to in the comments? That’s a terrible thing to say, Terry Ann!

Bruce has retained the services of prominent attorney Jeff Brown. At a news conference, Brown said he and his client will fight the charges. Bruce also claimed Marakis made sexual advances towards him.
“We want to know how this man dressed in a robe and sandals got in a secured parking garage approached the Lance Corporal and then reached for his genitals. We believe the surveillance tape will clear the Lance Corporal of the allegations against him,” Brown said.
Police say surveillance video of the scene will be released after an investigation. But, they say it depicts a slight man (Marakis), being chased by a 6’3” man (Bruce).
There’s a special place in hell for Bruce and Brown if they’re lying and when you read that Bruce told 911 he was “pursuing a Taliban terrorist,” it’s pretty much certain that they are.
