Has anybody ever seen Oates and Tom Friedman in the same room? Just wondering.

Sadly, I must admit I once owned a Hall & Oates album.

A long, long time ago.

A long, long time ago.

What, like Tuesday?

Has anybody ever seen Oates and Tom Friedman in the same room?

No.  But Hall and Richard Cohen were seen in the same room once.  It was a hotel and it was messy.

Wow. I so do not miss the 1970s and 1980s.

So, Kevin, have you seen Orrin Hatch’s contribution to the holiday canon yet? (Can’t remember if I emailed it to you.)

When my late mother first heard about them on the radio, she was sure that the name of the group was “Haulin’ Oats.”

I’ve been slammed this week, so I’ve been woefully bad with emails, so you may have.  I did see it elsewhere, though. Gotta hand it to Hatch, he definitely has his moments.

They truly were one of Todd Rundgren’s handful of musical mistakes, but he’s long since made up for it.

Even though Hall & Oates can take me back to my job at the Spencer Gifts in Northgate Mall instantly, reason enough to build a burning pyre of their records, nevertheless, I wouldn’t go so far as to call them a musical mistake, exactly.

Lionel Richie’s “3 Times A Lady” is the one that really brings back the strawberry candles and tri-color shag carpeting for me. It’s an aural emetic.

Mrs. Polly, I think Oates looks a bit like Richie. Or at least that bust of him that featured so prominently in the video for “Hello.”

LOL. Grandma’s a dude. It’s a bit too late to find out, ain’t it?
