Hardball’s David Schuster devours PUMA leaders Will Bower and Darragh Murphy

David pwned the Daraugh and Will.  He left them stuttering and sputtering in the dust.  It was great to watch.

Comment by Glix on 08/14/08 at 07:47 PM

Awesome.  And what’s with Darragh Murphy’s sour puss?  Has anyone ever seen her smile?

Comment by Cello on 08/14/08 at 07:48 PM

Holy crap, that was good.

Anyone got a cigarette?

Comment by Wonk on 08/14/08 at 07:56 PM

Darragh just looks dumbfounded. Pure gold.

Comment by Jennyjinx on 08/14/08 at 08:21 PM

Ya know, for a moment there I was almost embarrassed for both of them, then I caught another glimpse of Murphy’s face and decided, fuck them.

I can’t believe it, but Murphy almost makes me wanna hate the irish, but the grandma would smite me from above with a cast iron skillet.

Again, Murphy is no Democrat, she’s never been a Democrat and she still isn’t a Democrat.

Comment by HumboldtBlue on 08/14/08 at 08:27 PM

She doesn’t support you!

Awesome. David Shuster’s a pimp!

Comment by ts on 08/14/08 at 08:43 PM

Wow. Did you see Murphy’s face fall when he called her on the 6 million claim??

Not to mention Bower’s face as well. He looks like he’s about to leap across the desk and strangle Shuster.

So, how long before PUMA starts to complain about MSNBC’s “anti-Clinton bias”???

Comment by Patrick McKinnion on 08/14/08 at 08:47 PM

It’s pretty clear that Schuster is a carnivore.

Comment by poputonian on 08/14/08 at 09:03 PM

About the $6 million:

It’ll be interesting to see Senator Clinton’s August FEC report (for July). Darragh Murphy, on her pumapac blog, said we should trust her, and that Clinton’s debt was “paid down” in July and will be paid off “long before the convention”:

#106 murphy on 07.21.08 at 10:49 am
Folks! Don’t be downhearted about Hillary’s debt. The numbers released were JUNE numbers — she was still in the race until June 7th. We all spent up to two weeks scrambling after that. The whole “pay down the debt” issue didnt even start percolating until the last 10 days of June or so, and a lot of people were unsure. JULY is when we paid down the debt. Hillary Clinton’s debt will be paid off long before the convention starts. TRUST ME. Trust yourself. Don’t fret. Don’t listen to people whose INTENT is to RIDICULE and DEMEAN us. For goodness’ sake — Hillary Clinton is the most popular Democrat in the United States today — by far!
Stay focused and united. Dont engage trolls and haters. Send some money to her campaign if you can.
We are not blithering ninnies! We are firm-hearted Democrats protecting our party.
Carry on!

Wow, Schuster delivered 50,000 kinds of awesome. I almost felt sorry watching the two of them bumble through that segment… almost.

Comment by Hubert V on 08/14/08 at 09:07 PM

I just watched. Wonk, can I bum a smoke?

Comment by ts on 08/14/08 at 09:10 PM

ts - meet me out back, and bring the laptop :)

Comment by Wonk on 08/14/08 at 09:20 PM

I’ll say this for the PUMAs…

After the Harriet Christian vid popped up, it showed up at flowbee’s zoo, the sinking pink, etc—as an example of the PUMA ‘fighting spirit’.

It seems they’ve learned their lesson - if you look like an ass, you don’t publicize the video…

I see not one PUMA site proudly featuring the exploits of their intrepid pipers.

I hear next week, they’re moving on to learning shapes.

Kt, don’t be so slutty with the compliments.

This looks like a puma, no?

Since before you could finish typing the question.

Comment by Glix on 08/14/08 at 10:06 PM

It was Will Bower who was making the $6 million claim on Cavuto weeks ago and even went as high as $10 mill! I notice he didn’t rush in there with a retraction and or correction on Schuster…

And yeesh, Darragh Murphy...WTF?! Does the woman ever smile? Or at least look enthusiastic?!

Comment by douglas on 08/14/08 at 10:15 PM

Is it just me or does Darragh Murphy actually look dead on the inside?  Of course she isn’t Republican, they don’t let the undead register to vote after all.

Comment by iceberg wedge on 08/14/08 at 10:18 PM

Here, kitty kitty kitty....STOMP!

Damn, that was one of the best takedowns I’ve ever seen.

Comment by R.J. on 08/14/08 at 10:25 PM

I’m snacking on a little puma barbecue
right now- delish!
Thanks for the video.

It’s very amusing how many comments on Pumapac bring up David Shuster’s “pimping Chelsea Clinton” comment.

While his comment was in questionable taste, she is an adult and the sometimes unseemly official capacity she was trotted out on behalf of her mother’s campaign is a fair target.

I notice that none of them are equally outraged by John McCain calling Chelsea Clinton when she was simply a kid living in the White House.

Comment by Michael on 08/14/08 at 11:39 PM

^^ calling Chelsea Clinton >ugly< ^^

Comment by Michael on 08/14/08 at 11:41 PM

Loved the way David Shuster kept repeating that Obama won the popular vote. That’s the way to kill that particularly noxious meme from the primary of Clinton winning 18 million votes.

Comment by Frank M on 08/15/08 at 05:14 AM

BBQ PUMA, mmmmmmmm good!

Notice Master of lies Bower leaving “Reformed Republican” Murphy in the cold to take the heat for 6mil lie when it was HE who made that claim?
tisk, tisk..... chivalry is so dead.

Kevin- we should make one of those “hardballed” graphics with snapshots of these two.

Someone in one of the Kos diaries claimed that Darragh made the same claim on Curtis Sliwa’s radio show. I downloaded the show, but haven’t listened to it yet.

Heh, she did say it.  YouTube, here I come.

The dead walk amongst us, indeed.

And it’s good to find another great Brooklyn blog, Kevin.

Comment by Morse on 08/15/08 at 04:34 PM

I love your blog, wish I could link to it for every story.

Those dumbasses at PUMAPAC are questioning the provenance of the “including PUMA” quote because I left the name of the spokesperson out so they wouldn’t get spammed by PUMAs. The assholes don’t know how to read a news story.

Here’s some McCain deliciousness for you to munch on:

Comment by Tommy Christopher on 08/16/08 at 02:32 AM

I’m so tired of the “popular vote” argument--not because of who won and who didn’t but because it doesn’t matter. The candidates were never competing for the popular vote; they were competing for delegates, and they both knew the rules going in. If the primaries had been a total popular vote contest, they would have campaigned differently and we don’t know what the result would have been. But it wasn’t, and they didn’t.

And how they can say “I’m not supporting McCain, I’m just not voting for Obama” with a straight face, well, it must require a lot of practice. As does the line that they support Clinton but won’t take action to stand up for the programs and principles she supports for the general election contest.

And the idea that she was somehow ripped off by the DNC? Her campaign supported sanctions on MI and FL until they realized they needed the delegates. She was the establishment favorite until Obama’s grass roots started giving him some momentum.

Yes, Clinton may be a worthy candidate. There were good reasons to support her. But someone else won. And some of her supporters need to get past the first stage of the grieving process.
