How Quickly They Turn

Conservatives go to bat for the 9/11 Conspiracy and throw Glenn Beck under the bus after he outs Texas Tea Party candidate Deb Medina as a Truther. Meanwhile, the Twitter War continues. Beck an establishment shill/DC insider? Palin a neocon provocateuse?

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together…mass hysteria! When Beck gets the Ojoker treatment, you know the “purity” thing is turning ugly.

It’s taking less and less time to cycle through the pattern of rise/explode/sink/remold public figure manufacturing. When did Beck start going south—was it his wacky and inadequate studio reporting on 9/12, after he’d gotten the ‘baggers all wound up in their own string tags thinking he would be everywhere that day, leading the movement and waving Gadsden flags?

That quivering bowl of zany could do anything! Why didn’t they notice before?  He could say anything any fool thing just for ratings; he might even denounce Sarah Palin as a bad mother and jingoistic dolt!

There’s a new movie coming out called “The Crazies”. Now I know where they got the idea.

Fxd.

Hah!  Every time the commercial for “The Crazies” comes on TV, my wife says she instantly thinks of the Tea Baggers!

Ditto.

The Crazies is a remake of an old George Romero film, so it’s a double-plus-appropriate metaphor. George had a handle on the “mindless brain-eating horde” thing 50 years ago.

Beck lost it back when he was ranting and crying about the terrible treatment he got at the hands of the medical staff of the hospital where he was treated for some rectal abnormality (perhaps a misplaced light bulb?) and bemoaned how awful his near death experience had been. Less than a 6 months later he had reversed himself, proclaiming that America has the best health care in the world. How dare Obama suggest it needs reform!

My first exposure to Beck was listening to him whine for an hour on radio about his botched bunghole operation. This was back when he was on CNN playing up his Stossel mandroid of the people persona.

A man that fixated on his anus fits the McLuhan profile for a radio and television personality. Their career is spent isolated in a booth on a chair ruminating. And the rest of the country gets to share in their bowel inversion syndrome.

Beck is commercial fertilizer.
