How Steele and the RNC Sold Women Out

It was discovered yesterday that the health insurance provided by the RNC to its employees has, for years, covered elective abortions. Predictably, the wingers went crazy.

So this morning, Michael Steele announced that he’s corrected the problem - by eliminating the coverage.

I’m sure Amy Siskind still thinks that sitting down with Steele and discussing women’s issues is a super-fantastic idea.

Tom, you’re missing the big picture: Sarah Palin’s Vagina Rocks Amy’s World!

Right!  Who cares how the Republicans actually act!  They nominated Mrs. Starburst herself!  *SWOON*  That means they could start jumping on tables while screaming that women should get back to the kitchen, and all would be forgiven.

Too bad this didn’t come out before the Saturday night vote.

No Republicans would have voted for the Stupak Amendment had they known that defeating it was their only hope to retain their own abortion coverage.

Ouch!

And this reduced the RNC’s insurance premiums by how much?

If anything, it raised them. Insurance companies offer abortion coverage as a default because in the long run, it saves them money.

ROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!!!!!!

Haha! that is a good one… some people just don’t know when to stop and look at what they’re actually doing ......

Why would abortion coverage save money??? the parents would have to pay more coverage 4 the kid no?? so why not more money 4 the insurance industry???

Prenatal care, labor and delivery expenses, associated hospitalization, etc., are expensive. And that’s just the beginning. And that’s assuming a routine pregnancy that results in a healthy baby. If there’s a problem, it gets REALLY expensive.

Don’t take my word for it, though—look it up. There’s a reason insurance companies offer abortion coverage as a matter of course, and it ain’t outta the goodness of their hearts.

This is the kind of story you shouldn’t be surprised about but still it kind of boggles my mind.
