The “give us our money back!” game over at FDL is getting pretty comical (examples here and here). If you don’t laugh at the last line of this post (located right next to an ActBlue donation widget for Kucinich), I really don’t know what you’re doing reading Rumproast.

UPDATE: Kucinich just announced that he will vote “yes” for the bill. “GIVE IT ALL BACK, DENNIS, YOU FASCIST!” FDL post forthcoming. Link when available.

BONUS MUSIC VIDEO: Just because I used to love this song when I was a kid…

A commenter in that thread speculates:

How sad would it be if the only Democrat who’s come through the HCR process with his dignity and integrity intact is Bart Stupak?

These people were dropped on their heads as babies.

On the subject of the Dems losing control of the WH, Senate, or House: I wonder if there is any possibility that Dems would actually be more effective just in blocking GOP bills (purely for political advantage, not for any reason involving policy or, heaven forbid, principles) than they are in holding majority power.

TBogg weighs in

He really needs to get out of there.

Oh dear. I do hope the Tea Partiers don’t catch wind of this idea. [snerk]

This is a long-running issue I’ve had with Jane. I used to think it was all a simple matter of her dogmatism, but in the last year or so the petulance she showed in the Lamont campaign has really come out. That, and she seems to have fallen in love with her public image.

I like the TBogg link. Chill the fuck out, indeed.

One of his commenters responds:

I am very tired of people telling me I am some sort of purity troll.

I’m guessing he means that in the way that I am tired of people telling me I’m irritable when I yell at them.

I’m getting a little tired of the single payer purity trolls.  Here’s the thing. One of the basic aims that the Dems started with for HCR was that if you like the health care you have now, then you can keep it.  This seems pretty sensible to me, since people are, for the most part, afraid of change. Particularly on a big issue like how the medical bills get paid. Single payer would not let people keep their existing health care, so it was off the table from the beginning.

Why is that complicated?

This.  And believes the accolades from her toadies.

I like this idea of legislation by auction.  Do whatever the highest bidder says, and don’t make the losing bidders pay…  Man, these firebaggers have no idea what “donation” means, and no idea what they’re implicitly advocating.

Well said, AltHippo!  My sentiments, exactly.

Kucinich caved. Yay.

Now watch Hamsher go Full Private Joker.

@Tom65—Not yet, but her front-pagers seem to have gone for crazy census paranoia (look out, Mrs. Polly!).  Fortunately, they are idiots:

Pam’s House Blend points out that this will be the first US Census since the US Department of Energy Human Genome Project announced that race does not exist.

(I do genetics, and these people have no idea what they’re talking about.) So even if they eventually find their phones, they probably won’t be able to call their representatives.

Another old person who remembers that video from childhood, but I keep conflating it with this, which begs for the punchline, “What do you mean WE, white man?”.

@sean:  I think this commenter gets it:

Dear Jane,
I regret to inform you that giving a Congressmen or Senator money to in effect buy his/her vote is a bribe and Im sure you know is illegal. Telling your readers that they should demand their money back if kucinich doesnt vote the way they expected or should I say paid him to vote a certain way is wrong. Even the most unethical lobbyist understands that giving money to Pols is no guarantee of results.
I hope you would be courageous enough to make it clear to those readers who gave to Kucinich and others at your behest that they should not have expected their donations to be considered as a payment in kind for their votes or support because it would be ILLEGAL!

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

@mar—Tragically, the other commenters can only manage the predictable innuendos:

The ERISA issue is huge,...

In response to Jon Walker @ 11
I agree. Dennis probably let a suggestive comment slip to get people to tune in to his presser tomorrow. That would be like Dennis.

“I see your ERISA is as comprehensive as mine.  Let’s see how you handle it.”

From Hollywood wash-up to political blog wash-up. Well done, Firebag Jane! Good luck with that book/tv host deal you’re obviously craving. (I imagine she, like ChicBob, has a voodoo doll in Maddow’s image, into which they stick pins while crooning “This Nearly Was Mine” from South Pacific.)

I really don’t have the stomach to go over there, but from what little I read at those linked threads, I’m relishing the middle-school adenoidal whines about “I can’t BELIEVE I used to go out with him/her” on some of those candidates who decided to go with HCR.

Dear Jane Hamsher,
Double Dragon sucked.  Please return my money, or I’ll call you a fascist on the internet.
