Kathleen Parker? Really?

Conservative WaPo columnist Kathleen Parker wins a Pulitzer Prize.  Well, Parker did realize Palin was a blithering nincompoop and a dangerous demagogue back when all her conservative brethren were still seeing starbursts. And the horrible Maureen Dowd won one awhile back too. But still—gah.

They did a little better in some other categories, including Next to Normal for best drama.

Our local producers of touring Broadway shows are leery of its box office potential in Sacramento, but I think a Pulitzer should push them over the edge toward booking it anyway.

The other good news is that Barbara Laker and Wendy Ruderman won for the Phila Daily News investigative piece they did on a rogue narcotics squad in Philly - the fallout of which is still being felt with many convicted looking to have sentences overturned.

We can only hope that Pulitzer is a contributing force to keep the Daily News from being the umpteenth local to go under.

Betty, the title of this post mirrors my Facebook update. I’m okay with “Next to Normal” but I am a huge fan of Kristoffer Diaz’s “The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity,” too. See it at Second Stage, NYC folks!

And the woman can diagnose an imbalance in humours from fifty paces.

The Rocky Mountain News won a few Pulitzers but they didn’t save it from extinction sad to say.

This is a pretty good analysis of Parker’s win.
