Paul is laughing his ass off at the Grifter Bitch in Chief - She’s silly.
How in the world does Ms. (hic) Noonan (hic) get paid to blather like that?
It’s pirate time? REALLY?
I shocked myself how hard I laughed at that. What’s the opposite of VSP? Anyone know?
I loooove Kroog’s expression at 2:50. I’ve made the same facial expression at a particularly bizarre performance at Burning Man.
What’s the opposite of VSP?
A P.S.V.: Peggy, Several Vodkas.
Peggy, pirates suck. I favor ninjas.
Gin and valium are obviously a potent mix.
Stand back, dear Dr. Krugman, lest you are rendered similarly disoriented by her fumes.
A thousand points of blight, indeed.
Peggy Noonan has chosen for herself the role of Kindergarten Teacher to the Nation. She speaks in fairy tales, and chides people for being cynical or too big for their britches. She sighs over misty water-colored memories of great men of the past. She reminds us of our civic duty and urges us to play nicely and co-operate and share, so long as none of this threatens the gang of mobsters, lunatics, and nihilists in the front room who pay her salary.
It’s impossible to take her seriously about anything. She and Ann Coulter should go on the road with some sort of two-woman mother-daughter show about how to succeed in right-wing punditry without really being, or at least acting, sane.
“Peggy Noonan has chosen for herself the role of Kindergarten Teacher to the Nation.”
Perfect, Mr. W. She even gets that dumb sing-songy voice people who don’t understand children effect during Story Time.
To me the rantings & ravings of Peggy Noonan don’t sound too much different than this woman:

Yeah, I saw a description of a talk she gave on another blog and they said she apparently believed she was making a guest appearance on Sesame Street.
It’d be one thing if the stuff that emerged was in any way rational but it’s just loony tunes.
But here’s the thing: a friend of mine, who is no doctrinaire liberal*, who is smart and sensible (and a pro comedy writer), used to date her. In the early 90s. When he mentioned this you could have knocked me over with a feather. He says:
“She really believes she is a populist. when i met her she was almost a Marxist. An extoller of the working class. she had that built in Irish dislike for the ruling class. I think she still thinks she’s the same girl, but she doesn’t seem to realize she’s one of them now.”
I said to him, “If you’re right, she’s even weirder than I imagined,” and he wrote back, “I’m right.”
So. We’ve moved from unself-aware propagandist to weirdo mental dysfunction, or something. Huh.
* Not that a doctrinaire liberal can’t be smart and sensible, and so forth.

I think Nooners is still totally unself-aware. So maybe next she’ll be teaching a class at Yale too on the unself-awareness of being. (Lifted from a tweet by Ana Marie Cox which I saw earlier but cannot remember now whether it originated at Mr. Pierce’s place or Mr. Bogg’s or perhaps somewhere else.)
