Lincoln Chafee: Sarah Palin is a “cocky whacko” and “dangerous for the country”

I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Lincoln Chafee. Here’s yet another reason why. From The Providence Journal (with video):

Former U.S. Sen. Lincoln Chafee this morning stood by his comments that Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is a “cocky whacko” and “dangerous for the country.”

Chafee, a former Republican turned independent, did not back down when reporters questioned him across from Brown University’s Watson Institute for International Studies, where he is a visiting fellow.

Asked if he stood by his comments about the Alaska governor, Chafee said, “Absolutely, absolutely.”

And he knew the microphones were on! Imagine that, a Republican (okay, Independent) willing to go on record with… the Truth. Of course, he’s no longer in office or running… Still.

Too bad the Hair Club for Men….er, Club For Growth…had such a grudge against Chaffee - he was probably the last true moderate Republican in the Senate. Whitehorse will do nicely, though.
