Congrats to the Democratic party in MA, for running what has to be the most inept campaign I’ve ever seen.

It certainly was your election to lose.

And you managed to stick to the traditional DLC script of dragging defeat from the jaws of victory.

Pathetic

Dems learned nothing from 2008. They fielded a boring female candidate instead of a charismatic man.

We know how to win. But how quickly we forget.

Martha Coakley will forever be remembered as the woman who killed the public option. ;->

Excuse me, Strange?

I’m not disputing Coakley’s lack of charisma but it has nothing to do with her gender.

@karen marie—That was just for the benefit of the trolls. ;->

That’s what they seem to think we’re all saying.

...and that’s coming from blogs that were trashing Coakley this morning as a sell-out on women’s issues, but now that she’s lost have embraced her as a noble martyr of the Patriarchy.

How were the Mass Dems unready to replace Kennedy? His health was not a secret. What a disaster.

If I’ve been reading the comments on progressive blogs correctly this is what the Democrats deserved/needed and now they will finally WAKE UP and in short order we will all be blessed by an administration comprised of President Jane Hamsher, VP David Sirota, SecState Amy Goodman and Attorney General Glenn Greenwald. Netroots FTW!

@KK—Indeed. Electing Scott Brown is the first crucial step in shifting the Obama administration to the Far Left. Huzzah!

More Republican senators, please! Public option, here we come!

Rachel says this will mean more progressive legislation because the Senate won’t be chasing after that illusive 60 votes any more.  But then, Rachel is much smarter than the average politician.

I may not have a public option, but at least I have a remake of Clash of the Titans.  “Release the Kraken!”

Its all good news for the Firedog Fail Pack and the Cenk Doctrine! And lets not forget Jeralyn Merritt as President Hamsher’s cultural attache: Talk Left

From Jeralyn:

The Dems have some work to do between now and 2010.

I guess someone forgot to flip Grandma’s calendar again…

Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

How were the Mass Dems unready to replace Kennedy? His health was not a secret. What a disaster.

This Kos diary is getting a lot of airplay.

At this remove, I obviously have no way of knowing if this is the story, but it certainly sounds plausible, and all too recognizable to anyone who’s spent much time in party politics.

Me? I’ll just say this is what you get for letting a Hillary holdout with a massive sense of entitlement stand for election.*

Still. Peter Fucking Daou has all the answers, Overton window and all, so that’s OK.

* That’s one for the trolls and our blogstalker also.

Oh good grief.

From Jeralyn

I completely missed that frozen timeline reference. Jeralyn’s obviously distracted. Probably busy photoshopping pictures of herself into old photos of microdot crazed bring your own can of whipped cream and small-calibre pompom artillery parties at Woody Creek. But, meanwhile, I’m sure US Senate majority leader Slinkerwink will bully single payer legislation through the Senate before the next midterm elections. You just watch, the magic overton pony of true progressive progressiveness (which will hatch from it’s magic pony-egg any day now following its long incubation in the warm watery womb of the Firedog Lake) will emerge and fly across the sky singing Joe Hill songs (moss does not cling to a rolling stone!) and Joe Lieberman will retire and move to Crown Heights. And other stuff like that, too, also. Yesiree.

If Ted Kennedy
Wanted health care that badly
He wouldn’t have died.

If Ted Kennedy
Wanted health care that badly
He wouldn’t have died.

Way to stay classy, asshole.

The Ted K. jokes were coming fast and furious last night from the nutters on Twitter.  Also lots of jokes about Rachel Maddow looking like a man. These douchebags are going to be insufferable clean up until November.

Why do I follow politics again?

Pancakes Kev, pancakes.

Ah yes.  Arianna is giving Lady Lynn de Douchebag, Mark “I eat the corpses of trade unionists murdered by my clients” Penn and Mushy a platform to explain to us what Obama is doing wrong.

Thanks, Zsa Zsa.

Allan, Arianna as Zsa Zsa is perfect—all we need now is for her to slap a cop around.
