Media Malpractice’s John Ziegler acting like a massive dickhead on a TV dating show

What a surprise.  The latest patron saint of the the new progressive blogosphere is a loathsome, misogynistic douchebag…

The Political Carnival has a bunch more, including inside info on footage that ended up on the cutting room floor.

Taggles is on the case. She posted about it on PUMA PAC, and also on The Effluence, where, of course, any hint of misogyny in a public figure is rightly castigated and held against them forever more:

Keep the mitts off of SS!!!!!!

Also, have you seen this, John Ziegler media malpractice guy is a sexist pig. God you can’t trust a fuckin sole out there!

Response was there none.

Misogyny is okay as long as it comes from someone who hates The Darkie. That’s an important PUMA Rule.

The biggest PUMA rule is, of course, “Always be failing.”

(Shit, I have to type “River” in order to post this!)

Kerry, sign up for an account already!  We need you in the Rumper Room.

YAFB, if ever there was a movement that desperately needed to learn “the enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend” it’s the kittehs (cf the post on Michael Graham).

But it’s fun to watch them flounder about while fighting desperately against this, and all other, realities.

And Kerry, you don’t even have to give Kevin your credit card number or any precious bodily fluids to sign up.

All I require is a decent french onion soup recipe made from a poultry stock (Chris doesn’t do red meat).

What is this “cooking” of which you speak? Okay, I’ll get around to signing up. I promise!

Y’know, I’m aware we’ve tended to exhibit a certain, er, Midas-in-reverse touch with PUMAs we’ve noticed standing out from the pack (that nutty camel woman’s nowhere to be seen recently, and Islam is now again a no-no at the PAC), but taggles is sometimes quite something.

I think she scared Murphy when she briefly took over the reins at PUMA PAC because she actually got them talking in positive terms and tried, albeit briefly, to get away from the OTT hate/victim shtick. Things rapidly <strike>deteriorated</strike> got back to normal once Murphy returned.

She’s still a basket case, though, obviously.

I’ve got a good English onion soup recipe from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (crazy guy, crazy food) using cider as well as stock here if all else fails, Kevin (my French onion soup’s never been impressive for some reason, but this one was very moreish indeed). Sadly it’s in metric measurements, not that it’s terribly involved.

Aha!

Onion soup can tend to be a bit sweet at the best of times, so if that’s an issue for you, you could try substituting some wine for the (dry) cider. Any decent cooking oil will do fine if you don’t have rape seed oil.

Oh, and I see he suggests half-and-half chicken and beef stock. We used half-and-half chicken and vegetable stock, and it was yummy.

Yes, I was also going to suggest subbing half and half chicken stock and vegetable stock for the beef broth.  The veggie broth gives a nice rich dimension to the flavor.  And be sure to carmelize the onions a good deep golden brown.

Right on, marin.

I should maybe add that recipes chez YAFB often tend to be methods, rather than something to follow slavishly. The stock is just a flavored base anyway, and the onions are going to dominate whatever you do, so as long as it’s not going to add too much sweetness in this case, the possibilities are endless.

If you’ve got enough of it, I’m sure straight chicken stock would work fine as well. If you’re after a variation and a bit darker color, I’d imagine a dry dark ale instead of the cider would work. I’ll probably try that next time. (Your chicken soup looked absolutely amazing, BTW.)

The cheese on toast plonked on top is OK in principle, and looks fab, but it proved a little difficult to negotiate in practise. Tongs, asbestos gloves, and a hatchet may be advisable if it’s a particularly crusty loaf (as ours was).

HA! This just shows how hateful you Rumproasters are; Ziegler CLEARLY stated that while what he was saying may SOUND misogynistic, “it’s not.” So he preempted you. Checkmate. Hillary in 2012.

u2canhaveaniqlikemine has now posted on the Ziegler documentary.

The attempts in the post and comments to brush over Ziegler’s personal failings are a joy to watch:
