Monday Morning Music: Gus & Fin cover The Clash’s “Complete Control”

Chris and I are gradually recovering from attending a fantastic bluegrass festival up in Vermont (we got back late last night) with our good pals Amy and Rob.  Had an amazing time listening to great music, sleeping under the stars for four nights next to a babbling river, and ogling at the gorgeous rolling green hills all around us. And, of course, there were the endless amounts of booze and food.  Will write more about it later after I get settled in.  Thanks to the front-pagers for doing a phenomenal job holding down the fort while I was gone. Here’s some semi-bluegrass from Gus & Fin to weave me back into this thing called “blogging.”

p.s. Nothing like going from hearing rushing water rolling over rocks and the feint sound of mandolins and banjos in the distance when you wake up in the morning to hearing construction workers repointing the building directly behind you to start your day.  Ahhhhhhh, it’s great to be home.

Good to have you back, Kevin, and looking forward to hearing about your trip.

Yeah I think we narrowly avoided trashing the place while you were away (Arnie’s nuts notwithstanding). But there’s a whole stack of empty beer bottles out back of the Rumper Room that aren’t going to recycle themselves, so, y’know, when you’ve got a moment.

And I didn’t want to frontpage this from afar, as goodness knows what it might stir up, but WOAH! You go away for a few days, and look what happens.

YAFB, Brooklyn tends to fall apart whenever we’re away. The fill-in bass player for our favorite band from the festival, the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band, used to live not far from where that building collapsed. Sorry for the tenants.  That’s got to be horrible.

Yeah, one woman who lived there’s on holiday at the moment - I saw a plaintive post from her on some blog asking, “Anybody know how I go about getting my stuff back?”

I guess some folks don’t have contents insurance, huh?

Are Gus and Fin a real, like, group or just a couple of guys who put stuff up on YouTube?

I can confirm that gus and fin are both “real” and just a couple of guys who put stuff out on youtube
