Monday Morning Music: Pomplamoose’s cover of Lady Gaga’s “Telephone”

Everyone’s posting Lady Gaga’s new “Telephone” music video because you get to see her nearly nekkid in it and watch her make out with Steve Buscemi while she’s wearing lit-cigarette sunglasses, but this version of the song, while not great, is much better and the young lady from Pomplamoose would never get nekkid or wear lit-cigarette sunglasses (but I think she might make out with Steve Buscemi)...

The post on this over at Feministe - and the comments - are kind of a literary Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride,* or, um, something.  I’m still picking through it all.

*(I sure miss that ride, at least the version they had at Disneyworld - cracked me up every time.)

I thought Sady’s post was pretty good (and funny). I’m sure the comments, however, will make me want to swallow poison (ha!) SO I WILL NOT READ THEM!

I love Pomplamoose (their cover of September never fails to delight me, what with Nataly’s deadpan joy, the elegant disco dancing granny of my dreams, and the brief glimpses of scruffy guy’s belly as he twirls),  I love Lady Gaga (even though I think Telephone is more audacious than satisfying and pales beside Bad Romance, which is an awesome song, video, whipped topping and floor cleaner all in one).

But I can do without Ray Stevens.
