MSNBC’s David Schuster vs. John Ziegler over the latest Sarah Palin interview

This was too good to slap at the bottom of our previous post. This is some first-rate wingnuttery…

That’s hysterical.  I was just doing my own blog post on it and was trying to find the vid.  I stole your work with appropriate hat-tipping.

We’ve gotta come up with a name for mutual hat-tipping.

I loved when Schuster says he hopes she does run in 2012 (near the end when he’s being talked over).  The rightwing hasn’t figured out that those of us on the left love Sarah Palin as much as they do but for a different reason.

Ya know, nobody had to smear this empty-headed moose-fucker, she’s not a fucking bagel, she’s an incurious, vindictive simple-winded twit. It isn’t the media’s fault that she was out-shined by that noted conservative intellectual Joe Wurzelbacher.

I can’t believe the name of the documentary is “Media Malpractice:  How Obama got Elected and Palin got Smeared”.  Huh?  PALIN got smeared?  What about her constant accusations against Obama of “palling around with terrorists” and all of her other smears against him?

My other favorite part of the interview was her frantically trying to pull some names of newspapers out of her butt to prove she really did read any and coming up with, uh, uh, wait for it (snort) USA TODAY!!!  Palin relies on McPaper for her incisive daily news coverage.

noted conservative intellectual Joe Wurzelbacher.

Speaking of whom, has anyone heard if he’s been flattened by a tank yet?

We’ve gotta come up with a name for mutual hat-tipping.

69 seems so right, yet so wrong.

Palin relies on McPaper for her incisive daily news coverage.

Speaking of McPaper, I have a pet peeve when traveling.  Why does every major chain offer up that crap at the doorstop?  With all the local papers that are folding, you’d think they’d support the local dailies.  Plus, I’d LIKE to read local news when I’m stuck in a hotel at night after many hours of inane business meetings.

I still giggle over “Hey Sarah Palin,” it never gets old for me:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DIc8jdra0o

I think there might be something wrong with me.

Right - it’s the media’s fault that Walnuts picked a failed beauty queen with the intellectual curiosity of a Belgian Waffle to be his Veep.

Right - it’s the media’s fault that Walnuts picked a failed beauty queen with the intellectual curiosity of a Belgian Waffle to be his Veep.

No Tom, it’s the American voter’s fault. Their inherent liberal bias is entirely unacceptable.

I guess Newell is going for another pig of the day award.

I guess Newell is going for another pig of the day award.

Oh my, subtle and well-executed.

Why does every major chain offer up that crap at the doorstop?

That way they can simply order newspapers for the entire chain, saving money and avoiding the need to choose between local papers in larger markets (“What, you gave me the Sun-Times instead of the Tribune?  I’m never staying at this hotel again!”).  Plus, most hotels are bland and impersonal.  McPaper is bland and impersonal.  It just fits.

Oh my, subtle and well-executed.

About as subtle as leaving an open can of tuna out in the sun for a week.

Or would that be cheesecake?

Subtle in that anyone who doesn’t know about her (99.99% of the population except for us poor bastards) won’t get “it” from the headline.  Is anyone making PUMA jokes at Gawker?

Haven’t seen one yet, but this is pretty good:

How did Ann Coulter manage to do the Today show, and still find time for a little sunning on Exmoor beach? That woman never ceases to amaze me.

She does needs to consult with her dental technician, though. Those fangs need some grinding down.

It isn’t the media’s fault that she was out-shined by that noted conservative intellectual Joe Wurzelbacher.

Or indeed by his monstrous razored pate alone, reflecting the Klieg lights.  Shave her head and she’d stand a chance.

Heh. Class, what lesson did we learn today?  Yes, that’s right, never fuck with Wonkette.

Off-topic: I’m listening to a little wingnut radio.  Never noticed it while watching him on TV, but Lou Dobbs kinda sounds like Captain Beefheart when he talks. I doubt he sounds the same when he’s singing, though. FULL STOP.

Ha! Truthseeker77 at TPM.

From Ace’s place—NiceDeb on ~Shafeen~ and the Weblogs:

Also, for Best New blog, Uppity Woman,  is getting the Wonkette treatment for being a PUMA, and is losing to a backwards unknown, but is still close enough to close the gap.
Vote for Uppity Woman.

46 Who was it we were supposed to vote for for best liberal blog again? Wasn’t one of them a PUMA and less of an asshole than the rest?

Yes! Vote for the Confluence.

NiceDeb on ~Shafeen~ and the Weblogs

We will crush her.

The media assassinated her character?! Are you kidding me?! If I was her character I would have committed suicide or gone into hiding years ago.

Clearly God did not hear my prayers and close the door (and triple lock it) on Governor Palin.

The woman may be standing tall politically (with the Karl Rove crowd) but she is an intellectual midget. She clearly doesn’t read anything, except maybe a few gossipy tabloids; she clearly does not have a grasp of the issues (except those that concern her and her immediate family); and her grasp of the English language is tenuous at best.

How did this woman manage to become governor than a vice presidential candidate and now a media and documentary star?!

I weep for my misguided countrymen and women…

Btw, why does David Schuster always look glassy-eyed and listless?

Okay, this is my favorite unintentionally funny comment in a while (well, until the next time I look at a PUMA blog).  From Ace:

Hi Nice Deb, I’ve been voting for you, too BTW, but the lefties voting for SDA to screw Ace (strategic voting) isn’t cheating. But it’s obvious that the no-name sites that are going great guns, like rumproast and 538 (or whatever the number is), are cheating with multiple-votes.

Welcome to my world, Nate Silver, you fucking no-name cheater.

How did this woman manage to become governor than a vice presidential candidate and now a media and documentary star?!

The endless GOP fascination with passably pretty women who shoot guns and shoot out kids like a Pez dispenser would be my guess.

poor Nate.  He’s so nerdy dreamy..

documentary star?

Nailin’ Palin wsn’t that good.

Wow, Nate is cleaning up in his category. I wonder if he correctly predicted the outcome? If not, I believe that the rules specify that all of his votes get allocated to Uppity Woman and he has to fill out all of the paperwork for Shafeen’s deportation.

Wow, Nate is cleaning up in his category.

I saw that yesterday.  Go Nate!  Of course it’s solely due to cheating.  Not that people were hugely impressed by the great job he did during the election or anything.  Likewise.  Also.

I’m so proud to have been an integral part of the blog wars of ought nine.  I hope history remembers me well.

Ziegler’s on MSNBC now, defending himself against Palin’s spokespeople.  I’m loving this circular firing squad forming around this ugly pack of neocon fools.

The irony that Schuster glossed over when he should have obssessed over it with Ziegler:

Sarah Palin is now blaming Ziegler for releasing clips of his interview because the evil media is using them to make more fun of her.

“How does it feel, John, to be part of the evil media empire that is attacking poor brave Sarah?”

“Why do you hate Sarah so much that you’re releasing video clips showing her talking when you know that her best work is done with her mouth full of right-wing cock?”

So I’m thinking if you have to put the word “Nice” as a descriptor in your blog title, you’re probably extra-cunty.

(I’m reclaiming that word! Eve Ensler said I could! Woo Hoo!)

I saw a snippit of the Palin video on tee vee this morning while drinking my tea and it occurred to me (as it does) that perhaps telling Katie Couric that she is “not the center of the universe” is a really dumb ass move for someone who has(d) future political ambitions, but you know that’s just me.  I can imagine that Katie has as we speak a team of about 20 interns digging for dirt.

Go Sarah, she’s a Dogsend to political humor!!

Moar stoopid than Bush, with none of the consequences.  No consequences you can see from my window, that is.

AND I own http://hockeymompitbull.net I was going to let it expire, but I think I’ll hold on to it as an investment.

Before Palin even showed up, Lewis Black did a bit where Republican Strategists are contemplating finding someone even moar stoopid than Bush, just to see if it would work.

Man there is a new Alaskan Comedy Gold rush in that smirk.

Tina Fey’s not the only one getting lucky.

Sarah for President in 2010 !!

Kevin - “no name site like 538 or whatever the number is” has got to be the funniest quote of 2009 thus far.  I mean these people claim to be politically savvy and stuff right?

The kitty sites are quiet today. Is there some sort of Friday special at Old Country Buffet?

gimmeabreak: I wish I could echo your sense of pride. But, knowing what I’ve done—knowing all the innocent people I’ve hurt, all the bright, earnest hopes I’ve dashed, and all the morally-indefensible methods I’ve employed in pursuit of this award—I feel dirty all over.

And, frankly, I’ve been tortured awake at night by the nagging question—“Isn’t that kind of evil worth MORE than $20.09?”

justlen: It’s like this every time they execute a spectacular face-plant. It was quiet after their National Conference, it was quiet after Denver, quiet after the election.

It always takes them a few days to repackage failure as a positive, and reorient around some new objective they will never achieve.

It always takes them a few days to repackage failure as a positive, and reorient around some new objective they will never achieve.

They should hurry up. I work at home and I’m bored.

I read somewhere that one tinfoil idea brewing is that Obama’s Mom stole her Social Security number from someone else.

It’s sad they didn’t pick up on Dildo Baggins epic puma comment over at Wonkette today. They would have been rabid.

Kerry: I know of a woman who was unhappy at college and wished to transfer out of the fashion design division. When the dean asked her why, she replied, “Because of the hateful bitches and the general overall cuntiness of the department.”

She got her transfer.

justlen—That’s coming from the Dr. Orly Taitz branch of the Birther nutroots. It’s going nowhere fast.

PS: I know it’s boring, but be glad there’s still some modest, twitchy activity on the PUMA sites, however bland.

When the drums stop altogether, that’s the time to be afraid.

When the drums stop altogether, that’s the time to be afraid.

Nah, that just means Wheel of Fortune is on.

From TPM, on Wonkette:

I know. They’re all obsessed with something called Truck Nutz. As a PUMA who hangs out at Confluence, I am offended and call date rape on them.

BTW- Me and Glen and Staci had some fun announcing the newest PUMA_FAIL on the air last night, and got a couple of rumproast plugs in.

PUMAs are are a running joke on a whole radio station still!

scooter, it’s in this thread. I’m sad the kitties missed it:

We’re down to 51.8%. If we drop another tenth of a point, I’ll re-engage the Aggregating Vote Collider…or launch a spoofed PUMA attack on Arianna or Bloomberg.

Not to worry.

It always takes them a few days to repackage failure as a positive, and reorient around some new objective they will never achieve.

I was just thinking about the PUMAs track record of failure.  It is, I believe, 100%.  I’ve also noticed a trajectory in their goals that seems to be ever-decreasing.

1.) Get first woman ever to be Dem nominee for president.
Result: failure.
Note:  admittedly, this is a hard to place to start.  So, they reset their level of difficulty.
2.) Start new women’s movement by holding 250 member conference in DC at the same site where Clinton effectively lost the Dem nomination.
Result: failure.
Notes: here, the failure was epic.  And hillarious.
3.) Throw Dem convention into chaos, allowing HRC to emerge as nominee.
Result: failure.
Notes: Chaos, Dems, it all sounded within the realm of possibility.  They seemed to take refuge in the notion that HRC was sending them coded signals from her orange pantsuit, though.
4.) Support Rep candidate, thus causing Dems to lose presidency.
Result: failure.
Notes: While Dems have a history of losing the presidency, even when they get more votes, this sounded plausible. Apparently, few people bought the phony notion of a protest vote being a vote for the other guy in a two-person race.  Add to that Saracuda was starting to go native.
5.) Win weblog award
Result: likely failure.
Notes:  It’s interesting to note that by antagonizing Wonkette, they managed to lose both for themselves and for other bloggers.  Way to go.

I’ll re-engage the Aggregating Vote Collider

Speaking of, I’m having a hell of a time with my try at a Perl script.  Does anyone have a spare compiler I can borrow?

... 538 (or whatever the number is)

I’m with Litlebritdifrnt.  How can CPAC’s Blogger of the Year not know what the number 538 signifies?

But it’s obvious that the no-name sites that are going great guns, like rumproast and 538 (or whatever the number is), are cheating with multiple-votes.

Yes, who is this 538 of which you speak?  And what is this election everyone is talking about?

gimmeabreak—Perl is a dead-end. They’re expecting that.

I took my cue from Independence Day, where the advanced alien species was totally hoodwinked by Morse Code.

Fortran IV, baby. Simple, unexpected, effective. Firewalls see it as junk or chatter, and the average IT guy can’t tell the difference between Fortran and email text. I’m just glad I kept all those Hollerith cards.

We’re slipping

Wonkette didn’t win the daily pig.

murphy 01.09.09 at 5:06 pm

bqueen, glad you’re here. can you repost the link to the Baltimore art scene?

They’re not going to start wearing berets, playing the bongos and quoting Diane di Prima now, are they?

Because that would really suck.

Anyone wanna take bets on when they crudely slap a matching mustache onto the latest pig?  I’ve got dibs on 6:10.

KK—Knowing them, they’ll start with big purple lips.

They are pretty crack photoshoppers, I’ll give them that.

althippo-

You left out their foray into media. That was a major FAIL.

If I remember, it left even the most grissled, jaded rumproasters gasping in astonishment.

It has to rival the top 20 things ever broadcast on any thing at any time anywhere in the world.

It definitly made my 2008 worth drinking to.

Seriously, we all know THIS is what they’d like to do (with Dr. Battista, Obama, Burris, etc.), if they hadn’t already gone off on the pig theme:

scooter—Yeah, J4H on KPFT and Orson’s War of the Worlds.

The bookends of modern radio history.

PUMAs are so yesterday.  I’ve gotten fascinated by the cjane blog (the one that’s been mopping up the floor with TBogg and Balloon Juice in the Best Major Blog category).  I’m tempted to make fun of it and yet it’s so, sort of sweet, in its sappiness that I can’t bring myself to.  But now someone apparently lit a fire under Autoblog (literally a blog where people post pictures of cars and talk about them and the auto industry) and they’ve pulled to within a percentage point of poor, sweet cjane.

That’s all.  You may re-commence talking about PUMAs.  Also.

You left out their foray into media. That was a major FAIL.

The only one who I never saw fail in the media was Diane from Just Say No Deal (now apparently retired).  I got into it with her over that stupid free beer in Berlin rumor, but she was pretty good on the teevees.  She even survived Hardball, but Matthews seemed pretty mellow that night.

gimmeabreak—Perl is a dead-end. They’re expecting that

Ok, Strange I guess you’re right.  I know!  I’m going to dust off my dusty COBOL (last used in 1998).  But damn, I would still need a compiler….

I’ll try my new perl script within a COBOL shell, try to find an AS/400 to run it on and target Best Conservative Blog.

I’m tempted to make fun of it and yet it’s so, sort of sweet, in its sappiness that I can’t bring myself to.

I feel the same about Chatting at the Sky. The blogger and her crew are pretty chill about getting stuck in the middle of this turf war and they don’t appear to be wide-eyed, abortion-clinic-bombing Christians or anything. This is from their recent vote post:

And just think: if all my readers AND all your readers voted once a day for the next four days, it could really make a difference. Throw in the entire state of Rhode Island and we just might win this thing.

This is not time to get sentimental.

Isn’t cjane an Mormon blog?  Not that that matters, I just couldn’t get into it.

Wait, yes, there is something wrong.  Temple garments.

What happened to the Ass-o-lanche? Did that fail to launch as well?

Isn’t cjane an Mormon blog

Yes, the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints badge on the left gives it away.

No wonder she’s doing so well!  Do you know how big their families are?

That’s a really good point:

You left out their foray into media. That was a major FAIL.

If I remember, it left even the most grissled, jaded rumproasters gasping in astonishment.

Yeah, that was a major omission.  I listened to the broadcast, and read through a small fraction of the comments reacting to one of the greatest train wrecks in pacifica radio history.

Thinking about it more, it’s really the inability to learn from their mistakes that strikes me.  It’s like watching an ever-spiraling-down version of “I Love Lucy” reruns, without the humor, and much more sado-masochistic.

The kitty sites are quiet today.

I expect that’s because they unplugged their modems and can’t figure out how to plug them back in.

AltHippo, let’s not forget their failure to retire Hillary’s debt.  Or their failure to get John Favreau fired.  Also, each of their major failures can be broken down into sub-failures.  Remember the email campaign to lobby super delegates?  That falls under your category 1.  And the Great Weblog Award Failure of ‘09 contains the component failure; to get Wonkette and Rumproast disqualified for cheating.  All they accomplished was making that guy Kevin regret nominating them.  On second thought he probably considers having his inbox flooded with angry, all caps, typo riddled lists of demands an acceptable price to pay for the extra traffic that Wonkette’s campaign generated.

I think Gov. Paterson is going to name Caroline Kennedy as Hillary’s replacement so they may have a major new failure in the pipeline.

The Pumasphere, where failure goes to thrive.

Lawnguylander: once again, I stand corrected.  PUMA failure is so epic, that you can forget the Favreau episode and still have a monumental corpus of fail.

As a wonkette commenter put it on the confluence before being rapidly deleted: “this blog is full of sad.”

Isn’t cjane an Mormon blog?  Not that that matters, I just couldn’t get into it.

Yeah, my original theory was that it was a Mormon housewives blog but still I got sucked into the goofy sweetness of it.

Mormons?  Where?

To the barricades! cjane must die, but not before she is forcibly wed to a lesbian!

I guess you all saw Nate Silver’s telephone interview with Ziegler back in November:

http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/11/interview-wit h-john-ziegler-on-zogby.html

Nate wasn’t entirely on top of his game there, but it well illustrates Ziegler’s loutish pinhead persona that he perfected for this TV interview. (As a side note, in a later post Nate linked to this WSJ article that dissects the Zogby/Ziegler poll of Obama voters: http://blogs.wsj.com/numbersguy/zogbys-misleading-poll- of-obama-voters-459/ .)
