It always takes them a few days to repackage failure as a positive, and reorient around some new objective they will never achieve.
I was just thinking about the PUMAs track record of failure. It is, I believe, 100%. I’ve also noticed a trajectory in their goals that seems to be ever-decreasing.
1.) Get first woman ever to be Dem nominee for president.
Result: failure.
Note: admittedly, this is a hard to place to start. So, they reset their level of difficulty.
2.) Start new women’s movement by holding 250 member conference in DC at the same site where Clinton effectively lost the Dem nomination.
Result: failure.
Notes: here, the failure was epic. And hillarious.
3.) Throw Dem convention into chaos, allowing HRC to emerge as nominee.
Result: failure.
Notes: Chaos, Dems, it all sounded within the realm of possibility. They seemed to take refuge in the notion that HRC was sending them coded signals from her orange pantsuit, though.
4.) Support Rep candidate, thus causing Dems to lose presidency.
Result: failure.
Notes: While Dems have a history of losing the presidency, even when they get more votes, this sounded plausible. Apparently, few people bought the phony notion of a protest vote being a vote for the other guy in a two-person race. Add to that Saracuda was starting to go native.
5.) Win weblog award
Result: likely failure.
Notes: It’s interesting to note that by antagonizing Wonkette, they managed to lose both for themselves and for other bloggers. Way to go.
