N-word rant killed the radio star

Poor Dr. Laura. Another conservative victim of that damned cause and effect (via MSNBCDEFG):

Aw. Such a loss to the world of Krazy Konservative Kommentary.

But I’m sure she’s learned an important lessons after squatting over a live mike, flooding the air waves with racist rant-a-thon and then - for some perfectly innocent reason, I’m sure - pulling the recording from her show’s website.

...so she can get her “First Amendment rights” back.

Ha, ha! You didn’t really think she’d learned diddly or squat, did you?

“I want to be able to say what’s on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry, some special interest group deciding this is the time to silence a voice of dissent and attack affiliates, attack sponsors. I’m sort of done with that.”

I have a suggestion for “Dr.” L: Take some of your money and hire a decent attorney. He’ll explain that the 1st Am. bars the government from throwing you in jail or otherwise being nasty to you for the things you say. He’ll also explain that the invisible hand of the free market will give you the finger if the things you say are too toxic for your sponsors.

And that’s the American Way.

She wants to “get her first amendment rights back”?

WTF? I mean the first amendment guarantees her the right to scream n****r, n****r, n****R into a live mike as many times as she wants. What it does not guarantee is that people have to listen to that s**t or that sponsors have to pay for it.

I still think of that “Dr. Laura” moment on The West Wing. And though it would have been nice for Barack Obama to have said it like Jed Barlet said it, I am content with the wisdom of Teh Free Market.

Somewhere in Dr. L’s monologue about the selective, situational offensiveness of “n*gger,” she had the seed of a valid point…which she then proceeded to undermine by puking up every standard bigot protest in the Don’t-You-Dare-Call-Me-A-Racist-You-Shiftless-Hottento t handbook.

It’s a toss-up, though, whether she’s really quitting in reponse to that particular controversy, or because she’s finally realized that even her fans think she sucks.

I’d just as soon as “Dr.” Laura for advice on marriage and family as ask Amy Winehouse for tips on moderation and public decorum.

The moralizing harpy is not only a home-wrecker who pinched someone else’s husband, she was estranged from her own family of origin to such an extent that her mother’s mummified body was discovered in her condo months after her death. And apparently “Dr.” Laura raised a psycho.
