Oh, that’s why they call it The Daily Caller. Huh.

Neil Munro of the Daily Caller, journalist, immigrant, hero of the day, claims he thought President Obama was finished speaking (the fuck he did) when he called out his very well-thought-out question, “Why do you hate America?” I think that’s how it went. His follow-up was definitely ” What about American workers who are unemployed while you import foreigners?”

Now, you could chide the fellow for being an arrogant boor who interrupted the President of the United States while he was talking to the grown-ups. Or you could point out that Obama’s plan pertains to people who are already here in the country and have been here since before the age of sixteen—he’s obviously not a good fact-collecting little journamalist. You could even try to explain to Cally McCallingoutofturnerson that a “press pass” is not “that thing of when, if you call yourself a member of the press, you get a pass.”  But feh. They will be singing him beer-songs in the halls of Wingnut Valhalla, for points have been put up on an irrelevant board.

Another reason we can’t have nice things.

Kind of funny that the guy bitching about the furriners takin’ yer jobs is an Irish immigrant himself.  His American wife must be awful proud of her hubby.  Then again, any woman who marries a limp dick punk like Munro has probably never felt an ounce of pride in anything that she’s ever done.

Shit. Hunter Gathers stole my comment ideer! That’s eggzatly what I thought when I read the bastard was Irish and married to an American. Can he prove it’s not a marriage of convenience? Does he have a long form marriage certificate that we can see and touch and verify over and over and over again?

Asshat.

Munro looked and sounded like he’d hit the hipflask to me, both in the Rose Garden and in the ridiculous interview with him later at The Daily Caller. Judging by Twitter scuttlebutt from those who’ve worked and had dealings with him in the past, it wouldn’t be beyond the bounds of possibility.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall for Jay Carney’s phone conversation with Carlson.

Other than that, it’s amusing to read the “ZOMG!!!! 0Bama did this for political gain!!!” outpourings from the rightisphere, mixed in with the realization that this undercuts Rubio and Romney, who would obviously never exploit an issue like this for political gain.

For a brief moment, I thought that “this” referred to Munro’s interruption.  Leave it to wingnuts to think that Obama staged the interruption to garner sympathy.  I wish my interpretation had been correct.

Yeah, I could have phrased it better (only one and a half mugs of coffee down so far here). Though it’s a meme worth feeding, if the reaction from Commentary’s any indication:

If Munro shows up at every Obama event from now til November Obama will cruise into reelection.

At a potentially and seriously indefensible Obama moment, Neil Munro switches the story to the unhinged right wing punditry.

Neil Munro gave Obama his first sympathetic moment in many many months.

Even The Times of London isn’t too impressed:

Neil Munro, Daily Caller’s soon to be ex-White House bod, also recently boorish and drunk at British Embassy ‪#boo‬

It surprised me, although perhaps it shouldn’t have, that Munro’s actions have been determined to be beyond the pale, as it were, for the Fox News stable thus far, with condemnation coming from Shep Smith (not so surprising, he seems pretty decent), Chris Wallace, Geraldo Rivera and Bill O’Reilly. I’m not sure if this is a old media/new media beef, genuine, or strategery—“Look at this distraction! WOOT!”

Or maybe everyone’s just sick of the Birdseye Bambino. Dunno.

I think it’s “old media/new media beef” plus T(f)ucker isn’t well liked by the old media, mostly because he makes them look bad, starting with Jon Stewart very ably and publically drinking his milkshale so many years ago.  The old media types saw right then that Tucker was so unskilled that he couldn’t even keep the curtains closed, much less think fast enough to get the rubes directed back at the pagent instead of at the little bow-tied twerp behind the curtain.
