Open Mouth, Plant Face

When I want insightful political commentary, I always ask a guy who once fell 442 feet onto his head.

ESPN — which holds the World Record for hiring and firing offensive on-air talent — predictably responded by pulling Bocephus’ theme music from its Monday Night Football open.

Are you ready for some foot in mouth?

The spouse told me about this last night, but your post is way more amusing, Strange. Hank Williams Jr. is clearly an idiot, and I think ESPN did the right thing, but I still love the song. Sigh.

This Bocephus? Say something insensitive? I don’t believe it.

Anyone staying ship-board will miss the diss (fun begins at 2:10) TalentJr. hands a certain tiresome grackle-voiced Alaskan:

Doocenozzle: ‘Cause, last time around, you were a supporter of Governor Sarah Palin.

TalentJr (gears grind for a second, then reluctantly engage): Boy, was I.

Doocenozzle: Do you want her to get in again?

TalentJr (intra-and extra-cranial dead air, and plenty of it): ...I dunno. Ya know, like I said, guys, they’ve turned a lot of people off.

Tea Party Nation strikes back:

Now, Tea Party Nation president Judson Phillips wants Williams Jr. to run for U.S. Senate in Tennessee and wants members to stop watching Monday Night Football “until Hank Williams is brought back to sing the intro to MNF”:

If the momentum keeps up, next thing you know, Hank’ll be primarying Obama.

According to TPM, Carlson disavowed Jr’s remarks after the segment.  When you’ve lost Fox News…

I’ve been playing this all day long, and I dedicate it to HWJr. And, I hate that song, anyway, so hopefully it’s gone for good.

That’s a heck of a way for Hank to kick off his senate campaign.

Williams has now offered an apology of sorts.
