Palin Doco “Goes Wide” to 14 Theaters on Wings of Boffo Weekend BO

The Undefeated leaps from 10 theaters to 14 in its inexorable juggernaut course to becoming the most incrementally rolled-out summer blockbuster feel-good sleeper art-house niche-market celluloid experience since My Dinner with Batman and Aguirre, The Wrath of Khan.

Several of the opening day markets got the ax for lousy per-screen numbers that were harshing the average. Dallas, Houston, Denver and Orange stay. Phoenix and Atlanta get overflow screens. Second weekend adds Tucson, AZ; West Palm, FL; Milwaukee, WI; Charlotte, NC; and Ontario, CA. By all accounts, only America’s appalling lack of unused movie screens is holding back the latent breakout potential of this powerhouse film THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING, YOU SNIVELLING LIBTARDS!

Just for giggles, here’s the Box Office Mojo response to an angry fan on one of the Palin blogs who felt BOMojo was intentionally supressing revenue reports for The Undefeated:

We report on all movies, regardless of location count. The Undefeated people failed to send us anything on their movie.

But we finally hunted them down today, and the movie will be listed later today.

“Per theater average” at only 10 theaters is not an apples-to-apples comparison with a nationwide release. The fewer the theaters, the easier it is to have a high
per-theater average.

And simply having one of the higher per-theater averages on a given weekend is not a sign of success.

At 10 theaters, a successful per theater average would be much higher than ‘Undefeated’s. There was nothing exceptional about ‘The Undefeated.’ If anything, it was soft. It was relatively worse than ‘Atlas Shrugged Part I,’ and that movie was a disappointment.

Anyone claiming this is a success already is not being objective.

Cue C4P to lift your headline for a post entitled “Even Evil Liberal Hate-Site Rumproast Admits The Undefeated ‘CHANGES EVERYTHING’” in 3…2…1…

But then they’d have to admit that they unwitiingly supplied the email from Box Office Mojo. He-he.

You know, I might actually go see this.  I need a good laugh.

Gah, I wish they’d stop saying “Denver”.  It’s in Highlands Ranch!  There’re even a couple of suburbs in between Denver and HR.  And the gated community, covenant controlled Ranchers don’t even like to be identified with us laid back, paint our houses purple, free wheeling Denverites anyway.

I’m rooting for this to become a participatory midnight drag show, a la midnight showings of Mommie Dearest or Rocky Horror or The Sound of Music.

Snicker. ;-)

@marindenver — It’s not really “in” Wilwaukee, either. Arc Entertainment is IDing theaters by the nearest Metro Market, because that sounds better.

I read somewhere that it might be coming to “Pittsburgh,” by which they meant the Loews Waterfront, which is an upscale mall complex on an old steel mill site, wedged between Liberal Jewish Squirrel Hill and Homestead, a community that’s not widely known for its White Republican contingent.

This guy is one of my favorite commenters at C4P ...

In any serious country - which I have to say we ceased to be quite some time ago, but especially the last 30 months or so - this profanity spewing lunatic would have been locked up in an insane asylum long ago.

And in Biblical times, the earth beneath would have opened up and swallowed Maher and his vile audience.

I believe that something like that will eventually befall not only Maher, but the entire left - all of it, every last demon - when hard men - actually men and women, much less forgiving than Governor Palin and her much maligned family, will “open the earth”, and consign them to its depth - if only six feet deep.

We’re getting there.

Footnote:

Which is the biggest army in the world?

The Chinese army?

Russian army?

U.S. Army?

No!

The biggest army in the world by far - very far - much larger than all the armies of the world put together, are the overwhelmingly conservative gun owners of America, at well over one hundred million strong, and equipped with the best small arms in the world.

Food for thought for the left.

No wonder that the UN, and Obama, want to disarm the American people.

You know, for all their claims about an omnipotent God loving them and their kind and hating everyone else who disagrees with them, that God sure doesn’t do a damned thing about it.

They should switch to Thor.

@HB — I read that last night and I laughed and laughed. As I’ve always said, if you think owning a gun can save you from me, you have zero imagination.

N’est ce pas un film.

Another desperate headline from C4P:

The Arizona Republic Concedes that “Palin Fans Pack[ed] Ahwatukee Theater for Documentary”

@Strange - Oh I definitely understand why they’re doing it (who’s ever heard of Highlands Ranch outside of CO anyway), it’s just so damned embarrassing.

If it comes to “Minneapolis”, I might get all likkered up and watch it as if I were watching a MST3K movie—with appropriate commentary.

@marindenver — I apologize for being pedantic. And you’re right — these guys really are pathetic.

For fuck’s sake, they’re releasing updates on PRNewswire, the Poor Promoter’s Friend. I almost feel bad for them.

Assuming it actually survives long enough to get here, I’m a bit curious where the “Philadelphia” showing will take place.  Probably the Cowpie Theater and Nail Emporium Complex in Rodent’s Ass, NJ.

Meatprod approves.

No, I’m not linking it.

He’s pushing Colonel Mustard links and enjoying “smelly hippie” jokes, too.

I think he’s found his liberal-bashing, Hee-Haw watching Inner Conservative, now that his days as the Rooster in the Hillary Henhouse are over.

How pathetic is this:
The Undefeated Finished the Weekend With the Third Best Gross Per Theater Average for Movies Shown at More Than One Theater/Open Thread

Comment by Robert McClellan on 07/19/11 at 02:47 PM

Blah blah blah. Her reality show had a huge opening too, but that faded faster than a Hoveround at Indy.

Although the film has been tagged with only a PG-13 rating for “brief strong language” by the Motion Picture Assn. of America, Bannon said he has created an explicit cut of the film that demonstrates that beat-down in more graphic terms. “I took out all sorts of violence and masked the vulgarity for the theatrical release because I wanted families to be able to see the film,” Bannon told 24 Frames on Wednesday.
...
Bannon said the new cut would feature things like “crucifixions, lynching and suicides,” but declined to say who was behind these comments or where they appeared, saying only vaguely that they came from “Facebook and Twitter.”

@Robert McClellan—Yeah, they had to exclude an indy pic that only showed at one theater, but did 20k for the single screen.

If they were smart, they’d exclude theaters with more than 200 seats…and probably win the weekend.

From Nellcote’s link above:

Of course, politicians on both the right and left have often been subject to hateful speech and worse: President Obama has been the target of racist language and threats from various quarters, and Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) was the victim of actual violence in Arizona. But Bannon said he believes Palin has been a singular target of hatemongers.

Palin is a more “singular target” than a woman who was actually shot in the head? God, these people are raving lunatics.

Also, too, from that link: The photo shows Palin operative RAM at the Pella shindig, so all must be forgiven. But she seems to have lost her Twitter privileges permanently.

Clearly, we need a ConservaMojo that will only tally ticket sales to Real Americans.

When you filter out the illegals, the Prius-driving elitist professors, the urban youths who snuck in, hippies who stumbled in because they thought it was the orgy room, etc., not to mention the people who were only there because the SEIU, ACORN or the Tides Foundation were paying them to, how many tickets did Harry Potter really sell?  My educated guess is: 12, maybe 13 max.

In other words, a heck of a lot less than Palin’s movie did.  And a lot of them were bought with “Federal Reserve Notes” rather than gold bullion, which shouldn’t count, either.  But do you hear the MSM reporting this?  No.

I wonder if Steve Bannon ever regrets leaving his job at Goldman Sachs.

You never actually leave Goldman Sachs, Strange.  You walk out as a Made Man, a la the Mafia, and with a hell of a lot more power and contacts.

As TBogg wrote the other day, “these people are adorable.”

I am visiting Milwaukee starting the 23rd. I am going to take some of my liberal Milwaukee friends to see it. I will be seeing it again….and again…and again.

Uh-huh, sure you are. I guaran-fucking-tee if your friends are actually liberal, they will laugh you out of the house.

More careful framing:

Gallup Shows That Governor Palin Has the Highest “Strongly Favorable” Rating Among Republican and Republican-Leaning Indies Who Recognize Her

Ay-yup. 100 million morons w/ their squirrel guns will stop that Chinese Air Force.

Also: Hard men vs. demons. I want to see that one too.

Hard men vs. demons. I want to see that one too.

I have it on VHS…before they cut the Traci Lords scenes.

the overwhelmingly conservative gun owners of America, at well over one hundred million strong, and equipped with the best small arms in the world.

It is true that all armies need are small weapons, and no kind of organization or any battle plan other than “fire at will!”

“Wolverines!”

I knew I spelled that wrong.

Probably the Cowpie Theater and Nail Emporium Complex in Rodent’s Ass, NJ.

There’s probably an empty screen in a multiplex in Marlton…

I feel like floating a rumor that liberals plan on showing up to see this movie in huge numbers, just to mock it and spew our hateful venom down the throats of the innocent patriots in attendance.  Probably we won’t even pay to get in.  We’ll just “plant” an undercover liberal operative in the ticket booth. Maybe that way they will go to every screening everywhere, and then we’ll know where they are, and they won’t get underfoot so darn much.

Actually, that’s a sellable conspiracy line—and it could be a useful distraction from the fact that liberals have been buying 90% of the tickets available online to prevent Conservatives from seeing the film. Let me check with the WH and get back to you.

Strange you gotta do it. I know you MUST be a commenter at C4P and you could definitely plant this juicy seed.

Cool. But I’ll try to weave it into a larger tapestry of manipulation that incorporates this:

Gov Palin’s plan initially would have been to keep the legs of the Bus Tour going during parts of June and July ...... and that strategy would have been deadly for the Posers due to lack of Media attention….. so .... *unexpectedly* Gov Palin received a JURY SUMMONS ...... hmmmmmm ....  I suspect that there were strings pulled to “get that D***** woman OFF that D***** BUS!!!”

They’re fucking geniuses. If the Germans had had them in 1943 we’d all be speaking Chinese by now.

Actually, they’re closer to the truth than you think. The original plan was to convince her to stay home for a month to await a rigged Million-Dollar Cash Call from the Columbia House DVD Club. But then Axelrod came up with the “Jury Duty” thing and we were off to the races.
