“Protecting & Defending” the truly vulnerable (No, not him. HIM!)
This is 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer:

He killed himself earlier this month after being relentlessly bullied and hounded by schoolmates for being gay.
But never mind Jamey and the many other LGBT teens worldwide who suffer ceaseless harassment and sometimes kill themselves. You know who really needs a new organization to protect them from discrimination? The adults who proclaim that our LGBT friends and neighbors are second-class citizens and freaks who are destroying society and then suffer professional and personal blowback when people discover their very public pronouncements on the topic.
Luckily, Maggie Gallagher resigned her position at NOM to create just such an organization.

Gallagher’s initial cause célèbre is consultant Frank Turek, author of several antigay screeds, including Correct, Not Politically Correct: How Same-Sex Marriage Hurts Everyone. Turek, who used to deliver—I shit you not!—diversity consulting services, was “outed” as an antigay bigot when someone at one of his client companies Googled his name and discovered the antigay books he’d authored. His contract was not renewed.
Free market at work? No. As usual, when a wingnut gets five in the snot-locker from the “Invisible Hand,” it’s intolerance, oppression and an abridgement of free speech that must be rectified in the courts. Via donations.
It’s not like Lady Gaga is going to perform a tribute for Frank Turek’s dead diversity consulting career, now is she? So he gets Ms. Gallagher, who is clearly the next best thing.
Still, as a straight married lady, I rather object to the new organization’s title: Marriage Anti-Defamation Alliance. Above all, an organization’s title must convey its purpose (just as “Rumproast” immediately sets expectations for the content of this blog). Maybe something like “Kweer Klux Klan” would be better.
