I had been a regular reader.  These days it seems like Cap’n Lambert taking his anger at the world out on Obama.  Increasingly, it becomes indistinguishable from the PUMA sites.  Indeed, that may be Lambert’s concept for blogosphere 2.0.

  Just received update from Goofsdad in DC. Needless to say he was the only “press” at the news conference Donofrio and Wrotnowski were holding on the Supreme Court house steps. To AltHippo, I’m not even sure myself what exactly set strether off in the first place but i think it started way back in the primaries, in Jan - Feb, as i recall. Around the time Edwards dropped from the race. Strether didn’t know anything about Obama before then, he even sent me an email asking me if I knew if Obama had really taught law, or something to that effect. I had to tell him Obama had been the prez of the Harvard Law Review (he didn’t know that). After that he and vast bugfuck began romping around in comment threads at DU and Kos and elsewhere (saying god only knows what) where they claim they were smeared as racists and called poopyheads or something like that by some commenters in some obscure DU comment thread and then slapped around by some DKos commenters and so on. I guess. I have no idea what the real context there actually was but from there on they more or less projected all their anger on the Obama campaign as a whole (which became a misogynist obot cult comparable to Hitlers brownshirts etc…) including the candidate (who became an empty suit and the second coming of Ronald Reagan and a sexist to boot… remember the Great Period Scare of 2008) and so on and on it snowballed becoming more and more irrational and conspiratorial and just plain stupid. A while back a commenter in these threads named Pete pretty much summed up their act:

For the record, I’ve never registered at Daily Kos.  But, I’ve had Drinking Liberally-related dealings with Markos, and I think he’s pretty easy to work with, and has a good business sense about things.

Regarding CorrenteWire, It’s a little painful when I see founders like Leah being blasted by the current residents of CorrenteWire.  And, the current PUMA infestation.

Farmer, your story confirms one thing I’ve suspected for a while: there were some Edwards and HRC supporters who just couldn’t BELIEVE that an “empty suit” like Obama could do so well. Why was he an empty suit? Well, they had never heard of him and didn’t know anything about him! Whereas “Clinton” or “Edwards” was a name they knew and trusted from their long history of totally awesome political activism, going back at least to the late 1990s!(I say that as someone who has been volunteering on political campaigns off and on since 1978.)

It’s pure bullshit, of course. Obama had two books out by then, a legislative record in the Illinois Senate and the U.S. Senate, and plenty of archived press about him (the Chicago Reader has a pretty good collection going back to 1996). But no—he was this scary “unknown quantity” who “never did anything in his life.”

Fuck ‘em. I have no patience with people who are too lazy or butt-stupid to do their own homework on candidates. I finally just started asking people who needled me about the “empty suit” shit to name one—just one—major legislative achievement of Hillary Clinton or John Edwards in the U.S. Senate. Crickets. A few even copped to voting for Hillary just because they knew who she was and they figured Bill would actually be running things again if she won. (But don’t make the mistake of calling that attitude sexist—because we all know only Obamabots hates the wimmens. Especially the ones, like me, who are wimmens.)
