Quote of the Day: John Cole

From Balloon Juice...

American military officer captured and held as a prisoner in an Asian land for years, returned to the United States and hailed as a hero, and later on in life he starts to act erratically. I know the first person I think of from the last election is President Obama. How about you?

...because they couldn’t figure out a way to accuse Obama of crashing five planes before he even left for Vietnam.

It is amazing what “they” will do to protect their (failing) cause.

BTW, PUMA Pac still hasn’t filed for the past three reporting periods.  Their October quarterly was filed on paper, and should of been filed electronically, so FEC won’t recognize (LOL).

sunkawakan,

Someone emailed me this through our “tips” mail. She signed up as a nonprofit in MA in January.  No idea if you can be a PAC and a non-profit.

Interesting. Who is Heather Lindsay?

Oh, and I see that Darragh is President, VP, Treasurer and Clerk of her non-profit. How convenient.

No idea if you can be a PAC and a non-profit.

A PAC is one of the sub-categories of non-profits.  There are actually a lot of different kinds.  501(c)(3)s are the only kind you can make deductible contributions to, though.  But PACs, business leagues, clubs and many other orgs can collect revenues without having to pay taxes on them as long as their activities exclusively carry out their exempt purpose and they follow very strict reporting guidelines.

This is why I’m enjoying seeing Darragh totally ignore those last two requirements because they can, and very likely will, revoke her non-profit status and require her to pay taxes on the money she’s raised (net of any legitimate expenses.)

Her Articles Of Organization is a blank check:

She’s essentially a sole-proprietorship.

Heather Lindsay, Googled, is a personal injury lawyer in Milton, Florida. Political contributions much heavier to Republicans than to Democrats.
