Quote of the Day: John Cole

John Cole, bullet-pointing the “bizarre exercise in the suspension of reality” that is the McCain campaign:

Spend months proclaiming you want to run a decent and honorable campaign, and then run the sleaziest general election campaign in years, so bad that folks who honestly love you (the media) are not only revulsed, but shocked into such a state that they are committing actual acts of journalism.

Better quote of the day

“There is an old saying that Abraham Lincoln had about one of his
opponents, he said if you don’t stop lying about me, I’m going to have
to start telling the truth about you.”

Barack Obama in NH

Even Joe Klein has dumped him.  Though I would guess the John Funds and David Brooks will continue to bend reality.  I´m just witing for it to break.  Just when the journalist get the nerve to go the extra mile, John and Sarah will force them to go further.  Example 1: When Barb pushed john on the earmarks, he made the clearly blatant lie about how much SP accepted in AK.  He lied because he knew he wouldn´t be on the show again…and is used to people cleaning up for him after the fact.
Example 2: Sarah Palin Lied about the bridge and her interpretation of the religiousity she showed in ¨knowing god´s will¨, as well as the bridge to nowhere.

They are forcing that next question to be asked.  There is no point in asking that first challenging question if you´re not ging to stick with your guns and not let them weasel their way out into a softer policy position.

I like this one from Bill Burton (via The Jed Report)

In response to an absurd attack from McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds—who criticized Obama’s event in Dover, NH as an affront against Texans impacted by Ike—Obama spokseman Bill Burton says:

We will take no lectures from John McCain who is cynically running the sleaziest and least honorable campaign in modern Presidential campaign history. His discredited ads with disgusting lies are running all over the country today. He runs a campaign not worthy of the office he is seeking.

I put together a little collection of conservative doubts about Palin. Thought they might be the basis for a powerful ad or video
