Radio Rumproast is back on the fake airwaves!

Join us tomorrow, Wednesday October 8th at 9 PM ET, for the latest installment of our BlogTalkRadio show Radio Rumproast.  Our guest will be Michael Rovito, Philly’s heroic cheesesteak assassin. We’ll also feature a roundtable of bloggers comprised of Rumproast’s righteously creative contributor Betty Cracker, the amazing Ripley from Whiskey Fire and Zen Cabin, and a soon-to-be-announced blogging superstar discussing the past week’s events. Please, ahem, “tune in.”

MORE: Rovito had an editorial published in today’s edition of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Check it out.

UNRELATED UPDATE: Once again we’ll be hosting one of our kickass open threads for the debate tonight. It’ll rear its beautiful head an hour before game time (8 PM ET). Come on by and join in the fun.

Wingnuts are dumb as dirt. Here’s a comment from Rovito’s editorial:

I call shenanigans on Michael Rovito. Of course you wnet to Tony Luke’s for “sandwiches”. No one goes there for “sandwiches”. You go there for cheesesteaks.

Here’s Tony Luke’s menu that indicates they sell--get this--"specialty sandwiches.”

He’s such a dink isn’t he?

They know the way to fix the world is to take your money and redistribute it to others a la Karl Marx.

He would’ve given Jesus a good talking to for multiplying the bread and fish and then giving it away instead of just snatching it for himself.

I guess it depends on what the definition of “sandwiches” is.

Also.

I bet they’d do a cheesesteak sandwich if you asked them nicely.

Rip, I just love that they still use “hoagies” down in Philly.  When I was a kid I grew up in the suburbs of Jersey outside of Philly and I remember using that term.

It comes from Hog Island the ship-building yard. I still make the mistake at times of walking into a sandwich shop or a deli out here and asking for a hoagie and all I get is a blank stare.

What about grinders?

No shit.  Didn’t know that.  Yep, I like grinders, too. I know I picked that up in CT, but where else is that used.  Don’t really see it used at all here in NYC.

When I was growing up, hoagies and grinders and subs were exotic sandwiches from exotic places.

I had to suffer through my childhood with crappy “wheat” bread and Dutch Loaf.  It was like a Xmas miracle if I could convince my Dad to buy baloney, or “scumgullion”, as he called it.

Speaking of hoagies and grinders...

Well Kevin, there is a conection, believe it or not (head nod to ripley).

Groton CT. is also home to a major ship-building yard, particularly submarines, and smart deli owners realized they could make money from selling sandiwches to the workers. That’s where we get the term sub.

Grinders is a little bit more vague, but one theory says that the name came from the chewing one had to do to get through the thick Italian bread used to make the sammiches.

So NYC is sorta in between the two major shipyards, and from what I hear, is still filled with a bunch of East Coast eltists who want to re-distribute the wealth of good Americans and give it to the bad Americans.
