It’s funny, his blog led to one of my most embarrassing moments as a blogger when I failed to realize his site was parody. I went ballistic on his write up of Mr. Wizard’s death and all of his readers came to inform me, some nicely, some not so nicely (and I deserved it).

In the end, he was a real good sport about it and later that year he helped us raise money for a charity fundraiser for the troops.

Good people. Funny, and in the blogosphere where hits are more precious than money, generous too.

Very sad news. I read his blog intermittently, but always admired his writing. And it is just so horrible for his family to have two big losses like that in a row. My thoughts are with all of them.

For days my friend Bella was pouring her heart out on Facebook about her dear friend Al Weisel—even started a group to keep people informed of his condition. I had no idea Al was the blogger Jon Swift, with whom I corresponded. In fact, I was sure “Jon” was someone in the Obama administration as he had stopped blogging shortly after Obama took office. What an awful, sad story—and end to a young life. I feel sick.

I was already missing him, due to how quite the Jon Swift blog had gone, but this still hurts a lot, for some reason.  And man, his poor mother.
