Awwww!  Columbo died?  So sad.  RIP, Peter Falk.

“Serpentine! Serpentine!”

Also, “You’re a very smart boy. Shut up.”

RIP

Well, shit.
Farewell, rumpled-raincoat-in-L.A. dude.

They never show this movie on cable, and it is the most perfectly ridiculous comedy made that year.

[On working for the CIA]
Vince Ricardo: Are you interested in joining? The benefits are terrific. The trick is not to get killed. That’s really the key to the benefit program.

Vince Ricardo:  Remember, serpentine!

We salute you, one of the good dead ones.

We really have to figure out how to make “Jose Grecos de Muertos” a tag

I’ll add that to a list I’m making, O.

And thanks for the Genet clip. Must add that to my need-to-watch list, along with Husbands.

My roommates in my first off-campus apartment (and my second, third, and forth, because we were either soulmates or inertia junkies) put up a framed picture of Falk in a trenchcoat giving that how-ya-doin’ hand-in-the-shape-of-a-pistol gesture with the caption “Gil circa 2020” (except they used my actual name, those sticklers). I don’t bear much of a physical resemblance, but if you knew me (esp. then), you’d know why it was so fitting. Nine more years until the prophecy’s fulfilled!

83 ain’t too shabby. And now Sammy’s finally got a staring-contest partner.

TV & Comic book writer Mark Evanier has a nice obit for Falk with a story about meeting him, here.

I hope James Garner holds on for a bit more.

Aw crap, very sorry to read this. Also, too, Falk did amazing work with John Cassavetes.

RIP
