Scourge of the Right [now with related update]

I’ve got to say, Charles Johnson has come a long way since the 2008 election (when LGF was a pretty horrible sight/site). I think a lot of people will still have problems forgiving him for the worst of the anti-Islamic propaganda he and those who hung out in his comments sections propelled over a number of years before he (and apparently his weeded-out commenters) saw the light and turned on his erstwhile allies, who are now bitter, bitter enemies, but the guy has a knack of getting under the skin of the right-wing blogs and “news” sites like no one else I know. And so it’s been the last 24 hours or so.

The first story: Caught Again: Deceptively Editing a Video

In yet another humiliating attempt to catch the Obama campaign in a hidden video conspiratorial outrageous outrage, the heirs of Andrew at have creatively edited a video of a lecture by Harvard Law School Prof. Charles J. Ogletree, Jr., to make it look like he was admitting hiding a supposed damning bit of “evidence:” that Barack Obama was a closer friend to Prof. Derrick Bell than they wanted known.

Unfortunately for the reactionaries at, they had to cut out some important context to make it look that way.

Footage of Barack Obama praising and hugging Professor Derrick Bell. It was spliced and diced by the media to avoid showing just how close Obama was to Bell. More than that, a close associate of the Obama campaign, Harvard Law School’s Professor Charles Ogletree, admitted on our exclusive tape, ‘We hid this throughout the 2008 campaign. I don’t care if they find it now.

  — Ben Shapiro

[Emphasis mine] {i.e. Johnson's—YAFB}

Here is a short video showing that Prof. Ogletree wasn’t talking about the Obama campaign hiding that portion of the video; in reality, he was completing a humorous jab at some of his colleagues who also attended the same 1991 gathering as Obama and Bell.

Uh, and this is … you can see this is 1990, so this is 21 years ago.

None of these people look like this today [laughter] and I know they’re going to be afraid or mad that I found this but it’s a good example.

[quiet laughter]

Let me see if I can get this, uh, to work…

Now what makes this so interesting, when you think about it, uh it’s uh, of course we hid this throughout the 2008 campaign so don’t… [laughter] … I don’t care if they find it now but uh, because it just told you that his growth had been, uh, astronomical in terms of his sense about race …

Please notice: he was joking about his colleagues and himself looking older, not seriously “admitting” to hiding anything.

He provides the full video for context to prove his point:

Second story—a genuine scoop.

Breitbart Brain Trust Completely Destroys Own Websites

Check out what happens if you click on any link at Google to articles at Big Government, Big Journalism, or Big Peace.

Yes, it’s true. All the direct links to old articles at all the “Big” sites are broken. They all redirect to the front page of

That means no one who’s searching for an article at one of their sites can get to it through Google or Yahoo or Bing or any other search engine. I wonder how long it will take the Breitbart brain trust to notice that their traffic to thousands and thousands of articles has suddenly completely stopped? (Probably not long, now that I’m posting this.)

It’s been this way all week. When they redesigned (and got rid of its news feed services), they apparently changed their URL schema without even thinking about what would happen to the millions of existing links out there, and completely hosed all of their search results.

And it’s not just search engines; all links to their old articles at all websites are broken. Links at blogs, news sites, places like Digg and Reddit and LGF — all broken.

At the link above, Johnson provides some graphs that illustrate the catastrophic plummet in site traffic since Sunday, when the BIG sites were merged under one URL. Discussions in his comments seem to indicate that the brainboxes in charge of the BIG sites’ IT were aware this would happen and considered it an “inevitable” result of the rejig.

More: The hits keep coming! Libby Spencer at The Impolitic passes our way a debunking of another lie that’s been trumpeted as an Aha! by lying liars on the right in the last day or so:

Meanwhile, the very serious analysts at HeritageFoundation.GOPscam trumpeted their damning discovery that the new black radical demon du jour, the late Derrick A. Bell made not one, but two visits to the White House before he died. Of course, you’ll be similarly shocked to find out, a) the Mr. Bell in question was there for a White House tour, not any meetings with the Prez and b) it wasn’t that Professor Bell who took those tours.

The soundtrack of Breitbartocalypse: the frenzied parping of clownshoes—both the left-behind Breitbartlets’ and those of anyone who links uncritically to anything they claim is true.

What a bunch of careless maroons. The graphs of traffic death that Charles posted would be shocking if they weren’t funny. If Breitbart could see his current stats, he’d have some sort of heart attack.

but the guy has a knack of getting under the skin of the right-wing blogs and “news” sites like no one else I know.

There’s no one they hate,
Like an apostate.

I’ve been very reluctant to give the guy traffic, but I’ll click through to see that graph.

Discussions in his comments seem to indicate that the brainboxes in charge of the BIG sites’ IT were aware this would happen and considered it an “inevitable” result of the rejig.

They should fire their web staff, then. My job involves doing web content for site redesigns—in other words, I don’t even do much of any serious coding—and even I know how important it is to program in the site redirects when you’re launching a new site.

These people are so stupid, maybe it’s time we started telling them that bleach builds muscles.

Think they’ll ever discover URL rewrite? Or should we let them discover fire first?

They should fire their web staff, then.

Why stop there? Clean sweep, sell off the domain name!

I’ve been very reluctant to give the guy traffic

I doubt I’ll be making a habit of it, and I debated myself before posting this, but I have to give credit where it’s due. If I didn’t know Johnson’s history, I’d have no problem with either the site or the comments I’ve read there as they are now.

Well, I understand where Ogeltree is coming from.
Since this is a librul blag, I can say this: Yes, we wanted the hugging suppressed. There are more, many more, tapes we must keep hidden from the public. One hopes the breitbart possee is too busy on other matters to take up this issue further.

BTW: I received my new uniform. Is a black uni with a green spider on the back for Reeducation Camp Team Leaders or for Camp Administrators?
