Sen. Robert Byrd Endorses Obama

Here’s the last graph of his endorsement letter:

I believe that Barack Obama is a shining young statesman, who possesses the personal temperament and courage necessary to extricate our country from this costly misadventure in Iraq, and to lead our nation at this challenging time in history. Barack Obama is a noble-hearted patriot and humble Christian, and he has my full faith and support.

And I didn’t have to look far (two clicks, actually) to see what I knew was coming next:

Oh..damn, Byrd endorsed BO? Oh I forgot, you ONLY have to follow the vote of your state or district IF it went for BO, if it went for Clinton, the rule dones’t apply.

Anyway. I think Byrd also fears his endorsing tech WHITE candidate would bring up more mention of his KKK days.

I think it’s about racism and proving he’s not racist. Byrd was a Klansman. From wikipedia:

Participation in the Ku Klux Klan
In 1942, 24-year-old Byrd joined the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), whose parades in Matoaka, West Virginia, he had witnessed in his childhood. He was unanimously elected Exalted Cyclops, or leader, of his local chapter.[4]

I guess we can thank the Clinton campaign for throwing a few sticks of dumb-seeking dynamite into the progressive pond and helping us skim off the supremely un-Democratic and dull-eyed detritus.

I’ve yelled all along that we need to delete/defragment the hoop-cheese nibbling dixiecrats from OUR party!

hell..the man was in the Klan like over 40 years ago for crying out loud...I’d trust his ass before an Alan Keyes, Armstrong Williams, J.C Watts or even a Juan williams...The man is wise and speaks with eloquence...and like John Edwards they were embarrased I believe into by the state itself.  Edwards because he had 20 odd thousand, clearly racist/sexist voter fill in a ballot for him.  Byrd risked alot in his own state for that endorsement.
