Say what you will about Teabaggers’ understanding of the CONSTUSHUN, but I was really impressed when they got the tide to go out only 12 hours after it came in, all just by standing there and screaming.

And these bastards control our discourse. I should be reading way more comics—at least they make some kind of sense.

What are we supposed to do now anyway? Do I need to stock up on extra food? Do I need to get extra cash? Does anyone have any idea how bad this is going to get? I kinda need to know how hard I need to panic…

Call me nuts (“YOU’RE NUTS!”) but Sharpton (who’s lost weight and looks good) at least kept up the pertinent questions.  This was better than I expected it to be.  He did let this T.P. (!) idiot get by with ranting talking points that could have been shot down, but it could have been worse.

Yes, these are my new strict standards.

Food is good. And seeds. Also, razor blades, hard shoes, clove oil, thread, needles and small precision tools for mechanical repairs and dental work.

Don’t worry about weapons. Keep a couple of water balloons filled with ammonia or Clorox handy, and you can score a nice Glock from the first guy you blind as he breaks down your door looking for canned goods.

@Scott - please do not ever, under any circumstances, take what Strange has to say seriously.  I mean, yes, seriously. ;-)

Scott, I’m mostly joshing, even though history teaches that shit can go way South, way fast, in ways that seem utterly inconceivable until they happen.

Were it possible for this to all to turn “Beyond Thunderdome” bad overnight, I don’t think anyone who isn’t already rich can possibly lay in enough Spam and aspirin to make a difference.

Short of that, I’m hoping we’d all have time to adjust and improvise, although if you have teeth like mine, you can never have enough clove oil.

In terms of practical choices, I’m still assuming this will all work itself out, so I’m not doing much I haven’t already learned to do routinely over 33 years of freelancing.

My advice is to remain calm and see what happens tomorrow. When it’s time to panic, I’ll put up a special post about setting bones with simple household fixtures and making pruno out of energy drinks. ;->

Sharpton rocks in Cenk’s old time slot. I stumbled on him last week and got hooked. Hope they hire him full time.

The teabagger mantra about the rich paying 50% of the taxes reminds me of a political ad that was out in 2009 about taxes.

Some football star said he earned $30 million dollars a year and paid $80,000 in taxes but if we rolled back the tax cuts he’d have to pay $800,000 a year which isn’t fair.

So a guy who earns $30 million a year is whining because he just can’t make ends meet on $29.2 million after taxes. I just couldn’t squeeze out a tear over his plight.
