So Very Not Here, So Very Not Now

In a grim time, here are a few minutes of grace.

“Nice? It’s the only thing,” said the Water Rat Solemnly, as he leaned forward for his stroke. “Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing—absolutely nothing—half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”

“Simply messing…about in boats—or with boats… In or out of ‘em it doesn’t matter. Nothing seems to matter, that’s the charm of it. Whether you get away, or whether you don’t; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you’re always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you’ve done it there’s always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you’d much better not.”

Just watching it is somehow cleansing, thanks!

You’re very welcome, Yastreblyansky (and yes, I did copy and paste your nym just now).

And of COURSE I would post my beautiful healing life-and-melody-in-a-narrowboat vid while Suspect 2 was electing to hole up in a boat. Sometimes my maladroitness is so maladroit it can only be considered lefty legerdemain.

In any case, the boy has just been taken alive. How alive we’ve yet to see, but the relieved citizens of Watertown are cheering both the capture and their release. Now back to fiddling in a canal boat. The young couple, btw, are Rowena Calvert and Rhys Watkins.

I love that people have rowed by and given them cake through the kitchen window. I want to row by and give them cake too.

Maybe you have… DUH DUH DUNNNN… powers.

that was beautiful. thank you.

p.s. does anyone know the title of the duet they were playing?
