Sprezzaturing Test

image

Looks like Lee “The Real Cyberbullying Victim” Siegel, beloved by sockpuppets of Lee Siegel everywhere, has decided to be our son of a bitch this cycle. NOBODY DISAGREE WITH HIM IN COMMENTS, dude turns on a dime.

I’m not sure how I feel about the Kool Kidz Kharacter Assassin Klub training their Bic blowguns on the Republican for once. I guess it’s a nice change of pace, but I’d like to think we can beat the Romplicant without the beltway hierarchy enforcers softening him up with their usual multi-pronged assault of note-passing and furtive whispers. Plus I worry about sustainability—this bunch tends toward knee-jerk contrarianism, and after a few more months of tittering behind See-Creepio’s back about how totes uncool he is, I can easily see Maureen Dowd developing a crush on him purely for backlash’s sake, and then we’d be right back in Obambiville.

Thank God Perry flamed out. Alpha-jock fauxthenticity rolls off that guy in waves; 2012 would’ve been a steady stream of editorials that boil down to “Do you like me? Check Y/N”

“Sprezzaturing Test?”

::clapclapclapclapclap::

Wow.

What John said; excellent. I’d plum forgotten all about Mr. Siegel.

Your admonition to be careful out there among Teh Commentariat is top notch advice that should be applied to media folk in general.  One of my few “media heroes” of the aughts, Ashleigh Banfield, went from the quality professional described in this story, to someone now being paid by CNN to make pre-dawn crank calls.* [via TPM]

I haz a sad.  At least Siegel is reliable in his unreliability.

*As I was finalizing this comment, I remembered that YAFB and others outside the U.S. won’t be able to access this Daily Show video.  FYI/FWIW, here’s a You-Tube post that addresses that issue. I’m not sure this particular Jon Stewart video is worth the effort - you can get the truly appalling nature of that CNN show from the post and commenters at the TPM link - but you may want to check out this guy’s advice for future access to Comedy Central offerings.

Thanks, meep, that’s thoughtful. I don’t think we as a blog can condone that sort of thing as we could fall foul of copyright laws.

We used to get The Daily Show on Channel 4 in the UK a day in arrears, but for some reason we nowadays only get the International Edition roundup (which I never remember to watch anyway).

Ah, understood Brit.

John & meep, here’s how much I don’t deserve credit for that—I was just trying to portmanteau-ize Sprezzatura, then I looked it up and realized oh yeah, that’s how you gauge A.I.
