[UPDATE: I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT’S GOING ON IN CALI. I’VE GOT REPORTS THAT THE STAY IS LIFTED, LIFTED BUT NOT UNTIL 18 AUG, AND NOT LIFTED AT ALL. I’m going to get drunk.]
[UPDATE II: This is what I get for ignoring my Little Reporter’s Book of Rules. Here’s Walker’s decision.
“That judgment shall be STAYED until August 18, 2010 at 5 PM PDT at which time defendants and all persons under their control or supervision shall cease to apply or enforce Proposition 8.”
And he rips them ANOTHER new one.

[Update III - OK, so it wasn’t premature so much as ... over enthusiastic. And once again I’m wondering the Flop 8rs aren’t walking around with their guts in a bucket. Consider - Walker doesn’t think they have a chance to succeed on appeal and says so at length, including:
Proponents had a full opportunity to provide evidence in support of their position and nevertheless failed to present even one credible witness on the government interest in Proposition 8.
As for harm the Flop 8rs will suffer:
Proponents also point to harm resulting from “a cloud of uncertainty” surrounding the validity of marriages performed after judgment is entered but before proponents’ appeal is resolved. Doc #705 at 10. Proponents have not, however, alleged that any of them seek to wed a same-sex spouse.
