Steve Doocy: I’m a Lying Shill Working for a Lying Network of Liars Who Lie All the Time

I did some paraphrasing, obviously.

Facing strong criticism, Fox News host Steve Doocy on Tuesday morning corrected a quote by President Obama that he partially fabricated last week, conceding on air that he “did some paraphrasing.”

“Last week President Obama talked about not being born with a silver spoon in his mouth. That was interpreted as a big dig at Mitt Romney,” Doocy said toward the end of Fox & Friends. “When I was interviewing Governor Romney on this show I asked him about it. However, I did some paraphrasing that seemed to misquote the president. So to be clear, the president’s exact quote was, ‘I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth.’ And I hope that clears up any confusion.”

Wow, there must have been quite a flap about it if a Foxer backed off even that much.

I love it that the other publications ran with it without ever bothering to listen to the actual speech from which the “quote” was lifted.  Real journalism truly is dead, buried and mouldering.  It appears Douchey picked up a “shorter” from Allahpundit and ran with it as an “actual quote”.  Allahpundit is not aware of all internet traditions.  He needs to clarify when a shorter is a shorter for teh Doofy’s of this world.

Haha! For real? Awesome. What a tool.

On the other hand, anybody who was in any doubt is now clear that by his own admission, Mitt Romney was indeed born with a silver spoon in his mouth. If not an entire dinner service.

However, I did some paraphrasing that seemed to misquote the president. So to be clear, the president’s exact quote was, ‘I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth.’ And I hope that clears up any confusion.

“Paraphrasing”? “Seemed to misquote”? “Confusion”? Boy, you really DO think your audience is as stupid as you are, don’t you, Stevie? And the really sad part is, you’re right.

Yes, beautiful. “Couldn’t have been a real misquotation, haven’t seen one of those up here for decades, but damn if it didn’t look just like one.”

I guess his name really is Steve Doocey, isn’t it.  Isn’t that a little on-the-nose?  Douchey, Doofus, Deuce-y—Dickens might have named his character—the preening, bare-faced liar and shill for his corporate masters—Desmond Doocey, but this is close enough.
